I order the bags (to keep OH happy) and half the shop is delivered bagless??
They do seem to make up their own minds.

On the plus side it keeps me in bin liners AND I get the green points for ticking the box:rolleyes: .

Why does OH particularly want the bags? The guy carries it all to your kitchen. I just unload on the counter, give him his crates back and sign the machine and he's gone i nabout 2 minutes flat. (I alway feel kind of bad because to make it worthwhile we do a big shop online and we live on the third floor with no lift!)

Our drivers leave the crates on the door step and even though the kitchen is at the front of the house It is a pain to walk back and forth without bags. He also has a shoulder injury that he needs to be very careful with. I dont mind too much but he is the one 9 times out of 10 at home for delivery. I just order and pay.

People dont realise he has the problem so just assume he is fit and able.

I would complain - the Tesco policy if from their shelves to your kitchen so they should at least offer to bring it in for you.

In fact the slogan on their trucks is 'we deliver to your door (your fridge door)'

  • I didn't know they were supposed to take it to your kitchen, we haven't been making them work for their delivery charge!! But then again, our kitchen is only 2-3m from the door and there isn't even enough space to put one of the crates on the bench to unload it so I'll forgive them for that! Plus our shop is only food for 2 and household stuff for a sharehouse of 5 so there isn't too much to do!

I should introduce myself as I have been lurking on your thread for a while now so good luck with the quest to become debt free and keep the post coming, I always find it very inspiring reading how everyone is doing!

    Keep up the good work!

Another good day today. Only spend was £4.10 commute.

Part of the overspend last week was £6ish in TK Maxx for two thermal mugs (one for me and one for Hubbles) which have paid for themselves today. We took the mugs to work and filled them before meeting for lunch and walked around town sipping toasty hot coffees feeling quite smug. Also means we weren't tempted to buy biccies which some times happen when we visit Starbucks.:D

I do need a couple of lightwieght tops for summer hols so I have budgeted £50 this month - might pop into New Look tomorrow for a peek...

Oh dear, I’m afraid I fell off the DFW wagon yesterday.:o
I went to an evening organised by the institute and ended up spending £69 on stuff, most of it for Hubbles (buying him presents makes me feel good… )
So that’s my personal budget busted for the month.
Then to compound my sins I wasn’t organised enough last night to have made treats for lunches today and was too lazy this morning and got out of bed too late to make sandwiches so will have to buy lunch. I take the spend for lunches out of my personal budget too so Hubbles isn’t ‘punished’ by my lack of self control.
So tonight I plan to go for a good run to clear away the cobwebs then get cracking and stick some food in the oven while I knuckle down to some study.
Hopefully I can pull back some of the splurge by being super stricy on NSDs for the rest of the month. If I stick to my study/training plan I shouldn't have time to spend anything!:o

Okay, yesterday and today were a blip. If it was easy everyone would be able to do it and this forum would be redundant so I've told my spending self off, we've kissed and made up and now we move on;)

    Today's budget:
    Commute £4.10

    Today's spend
    Commute £4.10
Lunch £4.20 (sandwich and crisps. Was almost worth it as baguette was stuffed with yummy parma ham, cheese and tomatoes:p )

Tonight I'm going to make Twink's hobnobs, start a batch of bounty bites and perhaps make some meringues. Chicken for tea tonight and as Hubbles won't be home til late (hockey practice) I'll use the extra amount in the freezer bag for lunches tomorrow (chicken pasta salad methinks:rolleyes: ).

Had a bit of a meltdown earlier today but feeling more positive now. I say f&*kem, they ain't worth it! Not going to have a feel sorry for me splurge. In fact I'm saving money as now I don't feel obliged to socialise with them this week which would have been £20 minimum each on bowling, eating and drinking. Like I said - they ain't worth it.

TTFN (will no doubt be on later when VAT legislation starts to scramble my brains...)

HAd my first outing to Morrisons (or any grocery store for that matter) since signing up for the grocery challenge.

I think I did rather well for my £31.17 (would have been less but Hubbles was in tow and specifically requested spare ribs and garlic bread. He likes 'man food' when watching the rugby and it has to be cheaper than spending the afternoon in the pub watching right?)

Other than that only payed for train today.

Looking back I don't hink I made it clear how we manage our money. Between us we have 4 current accounts - Hubbles has one, I have 2 (one being the HBoS O/D I'm trying to pay off) and we have a joint one. Each month we put a set amount into the joint account which covers the household bills (excluding car costs other than HP payment) and, if we can get the hang of this MSE thing, should allow us to save a little for household dramas and holidays.

This joint account includes 2 joint loans which aren't included in my sig. My current aim is to pay off my personal debt while Hubbles is saving for a replacement car. Once the personal debt has gone I'll be happy to tip more into the joint account to clear loan balances and eventually start saving for Australian Adventure.

From his account Hubbles is paying off a 0% card (my debt he's taken on in return for me bailing him out a few years ago), pays car costs (excluding HP obviously) and has pocket money for clothes, nights out, savings and anything else he can think of.

My account covers my commute costs, lunches coffees (now only when I fall of MSE wagon), contacts, student loans (old style loans), my debts and haircuts, clothes etc

Well that was a bit of a waffly post but I hope it makes sense.

It may seem overly complicated but this way we know the household costs are covered and I like to feel I still have something that is mine if you get what I mean. It also means I am dealing with my mess otherwise he would give me his last penny and I don't think that's fair.

I satisfied my retail fix today without spending any cash - finally got round to upgrading my phone. One of the games on it is Sims 2 so train journeys just became less tedious!:p

I'm off to bed now. Really excited as getting bikes tomorrow (also 'free' as paid for by insurance reward:T ) Definitely a good week, despite yesterday's strop and Tuesday's blip:rolleyes:

    G'night all x
