I like it! I can use my notebook in the day and update my diary at night - that appeals to the Monica in me no end!:rotfl:

I think I'll make my target for June to cut out the 'treats'. In July I'll start to think about scary things like ebaying...

sounds a good idea - if you try to cut everything at once there's a big chance that it'll all get too much and you crash and burn! baby steps...

Good luck getting rid of the debts.

I've used the MSE demotivator a couple of times and surprised myself at how things can add up but the good intentions don't last.:o

Hopefully having to write stuff down will make me think about it ...

What do you do when you have an 'oh  -it day'? which is when I'm at my spendiest...

the 'oh  -it day'? - make myself look at the spreadsheets again and spend the day here. I'm getting way too obsessed though!

I guess it is about being able to live and enjoy things while having a bit of self control... that'll be a whole new experience for me then.

I have recently tried a different method of writing my spending diary: Writing at the top of the page at the start of each month my surplus money (about £400 in your case) then as I buy something deduct it & write how much is left.
When you see it dwindling away it really help you put the brake on spending.

The first month I tried to have £10 left, then £20 & so on.
Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!
