I have my test on wednesday morning. I heard the tests have changed as manpower have now taken over the recruitment. Any tips will be highly appreciated.0

The numeracy test isn't the problem. Its the literacy test which is awkward. I passed the numeracy test for an EO position and failed literacy. Luckily for me I managed to take another test the following week. I am awaiting my results now. I need 11 out of 15 mistakes to pass. Honestly after reading all these post it sounds like the DWP play around with you but I am sure the people that actually got the position are laughing.
Good luck to anybody taking the test. Dont bother trying to cheat, if its meant to be its meant to be.
P.s I'll be back if I pass lol!0 -
I got my test for the AO role next week in West Ham also......any info would be great

Hi guys,
I've passed the tests for both AO (4 years ago) and EO (4 months ago).
The tests are the same for both grades, however you need a higher mark if you're going for an EO job.
The literacy test entails reading a letter which is about a page long. You are then given 15 minutes to circle as many errors (spelling, grammar, etc) as you can.
The numeracy tests consist of around 20 multiple choice questions, involving basic maths like adding, subtracting, percentages, ratios, etc. They try and base these around real life examples, eg "There are 10 computers in the library at a school. If there are 100 computers in total at the school, what percentage of computers are located in the library". You are given about 10 minutes to answer these, so you do need to work quite quickly.
A calculator is provided, so there is no need to worry about working things out in your head, etc.
Hope the above helps.0 -

thanks alot mate
how is the interview, once again any inside info would be highly appreciated0 -
@ buftymctufty: Yes, I think you may be right, although I can't remember the exact times.
@ no1_badman: Have a look at this link: http://recruitment.direct.gov.uk/main/Microsoft%20Word%20-%20DWP%20competencies%202008-9.pdf
Not sure if they send that information out with the invitation to attend interview letters, but it breaks down the compentencies into smaller areas. What you need to do is think of 4 specific examples where you did the things specified in the link above. You will be asked 4 questions only; one for each competency.
The interview usually lasts half an hour - 40 minutes, but this varies depending on what you have to say. The biggest pointer I can give is to use the word "I" a lot during the interview, eg "I arranged a meeting to discuss xx... ", "I collated xx....", etc. Do NOT use "We".
There are NO questions like "WHat makes you want to work for DWP" so don't waste your time thinking of answers for stuff like that.0 -
I will do, & thank you0
