A disgrace...Orange to charge for itemised billing

  • Got my bill today and there is no mention of any charge on itemised billing.

The only notice is that international texting charge will rise from 15 to 19p from 1/11/05.

The Orange website is a pain for downloading bills so I still have the trees delivered. At least it's still free :)

Damn, that's a major increase! 19p for one international text, that's ridiculous. Still, I guess they have to subsidise their loss of international call revenue from Simply Fone.

Sorry for going offtopic, I'm sure someone will start up a thread for it soon ;)

I'm not on OVP, I'm on the long discontinued Everyday 50 tariff. Orange say I will now be charged for itemised billing too. So it's not just OVP customers.

Their decision to charge me is obviously not down to lazy operators, because I've never meant to be charged for itemised billing...

Since they told me about a year back that customers would no longer get a yearly price drop on Orange Care, I have had so many disappointments. This is yet another extra charge that I can't see any reason for. Yes, I can cancel, but I'm even more annoyed since the poster who says they work for Orange says it is aimed at OVP customers, which I clearly am not. Is anybody else still on the Everyday 50 tariff?
  • I have an EQ Virgin service plan. I just pay as I go, I don't use mobile often, just for emergencies, taxis when out, not like a life support machine.

I paid my bill this morning over the phone and I asked about the itemised billing and the operator said that it wouldn't apply to my plan as it was a discontinued plan, no longer offered. Fine for those on it but not offered to new customers. Been with Orange for years and no problems. The only charge noted on my most recent bill was again to increase international texting from 15p to 19p which is mainly what I use my phone for, apart from emergency calls at home/or taxis home.

Could you tell me a bit more about Simply Fone please? I would love to know as it might help me reduce my mobile bill.

    Thanks

Simply-Fone is a service that lets you call international destinations (and some others) by using inclusive cross-network minutes from a mobile tariff.

  • HI yes I have everyday 50 on my line 2, (at a cost of approx 9 quid pm) and OVP daytime max on line 1 (approx 41 quid pm) so for 50 quid pm I get 4500 same network minutes lol!!!

When pre-dial was working it was so good, I could ring my m8 in spain for hours at a time for nowt, just waiting until they can set up another call router.

Oh BTW only just upgraded, originally went for 6680 but orange have ruined it by putting their own software on it, so sent it back and now have 6230i with 120 free texts and free insurance so pretty happy with the deal. Also they offered me 500 any net mins for 25 quid instead of my OVP t mobile plan but they couldnt give me texts or free insurance so stayed where I was. Just need to find a way to call a voda cheaply now.
  • grifty - I'm also on Everyday 50 still, and can confirm that one of the features of that tariff as advertised was free itemsied billing.

I'm furious about this, as a matter of principle, and as it comes (as you say) after effectively doubling the cost of my Orange Care insurance I am now seriously looking elsewhere....free CS calls notwithstanding, they aren't treating their customers very fairly these days.

anyone else got a new bill with this change of terms on it, so far we have only one confirmed sighting of the charge, and that is on an OVP contract which is juts matching the original network terms

Hi I received my bill yesterday and I have a note saying they are going to start charging £1. Think I will just ring and cancel the charge.
