Cheap Computer repair in Lonndon......

Hi everyone, i need my computer repaired don't ask me what the problem is as i have no idea it keeps crashing and has a very loud noise coming from it.

Now i have called up a few place and they are all quoting me around £50 - £100 labour with call out fees etc. I just googled computer repair for these places. Is there any where i can get it repaired for cheaper as i do want to keep it and i do want to save money hence the money saving site

Any help or people that know a cheap place to go with.

Many regards and help Julie

  • Could be cheaper to take it to repair rather than have someone come out to you.

You could do that, but you might as well take it to the dump ;) PC World, no, no no and no! If you do, I'll bet they'll just wipe it, and you'll loose everything.

Instead, find a good local computer shop and take it there (there are many, just look in the yellow pages), or a good family friend or PC "expert neighbour" or 6th former!

Now I am not saying this is your issue but it sounds rather like the problem I had a while back.

I had a problem with the bearings on my fan that went and hence made the loud noise which might be what you are hearing and this caused my pc to crash as the Power supply was getting overheated and turning itself off.

    hope this may help :)

Making a loud noise and switching off is almost certainly a Fan failing (unless it is a high pitched screech and the screen locks up).

Internal fans cost less than a tenner to fix

PSU fan will mean a new PSU. £15-20 max but can be bought cheaper online.

Find some geeky kid to have a look or (as others have said) find a local PC shop.

Read this before taking it to PC World. Bunch of clowns!

I will try that, as i live in London so it shouldn't be hard to find a repair man! :p i did call up a few earlier they still all over charging its ridiculous!

And thanks for all your help but i will trust you all and will not bring it to PC world who quoted me £90 to fix it. The screen just goes blue and turns off and the sound from the fans i think gets louder as its on. Really depressing as i do not have backups if the PC goes

If anyone in the London area knows or can help me please let me know ASAP thank you

There is a free computer clinic every Wednesday in Swansea Area but you have to book it. :j
