If you have a basic job it will give you evidence of employment, ability to work with others, good timekeeping, reliability etc. and you can study for other skills in your own time - like driving license, first aid course, computer studies etc.
Everyone has to start somewhere!
Do you suppose a mountaineer started by immediately climbimg the tallest mountain he could find or built his skills and abilities gradually.
And "No I am not suggesting you climb a mountain!!!!""This site is addictive!"

They have opportunities to move into other roles, and potentially management.
You really are so narrow minded, aren't you?
Have you trawled Leeds' bookshops for application forms yet?
Then as soon as they apply to be a manager they say, no you can't as you have never been a manager before. So if you don't have experience you will never get a better job and you can't get the experience without a better job.:beer:0 -
Surely, a good job is one which makes you feel happy and fulfilled? Of course it needs to pay enough to hold body and soul together, but loadsamoney is not the main criteria.
As an example: A Pastor I know is reluctantly retiring next January at the age of 70. When I relayed this information to my son, he said 'How can he retire? You can only retire from a job. You can't retire from what you are'. Very true I thought.
So, if you can find a job that fits in with 'what you are' AND get paid for it, then that would be your ideal job.
And skills gained elsewhere will enable you for that job.

I do honestly see your point with this. When I was trying to get my job in accountancy they wanted experience, but no one was going to give me a chance to get the experience in the first place.studentphil wrote: »Then as soon as they apply to be a manager they say, no you can't as you have never been a manager before. HOWEVER, I had to show them I was willing to learn and the experience would come naturally. The internal shelf stacker people who apply will have other advantages such as knowing how the company works etc etc, therefore more time can be spent showing them "how to manager" in a very basic sense."I'm not from around here, I have my own customs"

They say that if you stay in a job long enough, you will eventually be promoted to a job above your competence.
I think you are already doing that job......:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -
