  • Thank you, I have just ordered one by 'phone (to see what happened when speaking to a CSA - the price on her computer was not the internet price but when quereied, she searched and the internet price was accepted) having opened an account.

Used the £10.00 off voucher which will be credited to my card after 11 days (the return by date).

Delivery within 3 weeks - I am looking forward to it.

    Cheers:beer:

Thanks threesacrowd, just ordered the 3ft one.

Don't forget quidco to get 6% off.

The 3' is £87.20, which isn't cheap for that mattress.

It only appears to be the 4' (small double) for £19.80. I presume this is a mistake, so I don't know if they will complete the transaction.

hello I have been looking out everyday for the last year or so for decent quality mattresses.
I require two new mattresses, the ones me and my sibling are sleeping on are the cheap argos quality ones and they are giving way.
I am confused to about what Marshall Ward sizes my mattresses would come under.

    One mattress measures at
    length 6ft 3"
    width 3ft

    the other mattress at
    length 6ft 2"
    width 2ft 11"

    all suggestions much appreciated.

also PLEASE CAN YOU TELL ME HOW I GO ABOUT THE £10 DISCOUNT CODE.

    THANKYOU ALL

These are the standard UK sizes:

    small single 2'6" x 6'3"
    single 3' x 6'3"
    small double 4' x 6'3"
    double 4'6" x 6'3"
    king size 5' x 6'6"
    super king size 6' x 6'6"

The mattresses on offer are far from being tp notch, but at £19.80 are a great bargain.

No. It's in their terms and conditions. Don't bother.

Try calling trading standards. I know that in a store they have to sell at the displayed price. My locam Focus store were allways making mistakes and having to sell things really cheap.

My bank statement shows that the money came out of my account today - legally once money has been taken do they have to provide the item or can they give a refund?
I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something

Tim I'm afraid your wrong on this one. Goods on display in a shop window / pictures in a catalogue / leaflet etc are known as an Invitation to Treat in the law of contract and for a valid contract to be in place there has to be a valid offer and acceptance by both parties on all material aspects of the goods. This includes the price. You the consumer make an offer to the seller to buy the goods at the alloted / displayed price which the seller does not need to accept and thus does not need to sell you the goods.

It's a common misconception that the "consumer" is entitled to the goods at the displayed price when alas indeed they are not and it's good will of the shop letting you have them at the lower / misprice no matter how much you stamp your feet and say I know my rights (alas most consumers don't but then again a lot of retaillers don't either and this is often why you get them at the cheaper too.).

Case law as follows for the law students amongs us:-

Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain v Boots Cash Chemists (Southern) Ltd [1953] 1 All ER 482 (Goods on display in a shop with the price attatched was not enough to be deemed an offer).

Fisher v Bell [1961] 1 Q.B. 394 (Flick knife in shop window case)

For the non-lawyers amongst us, here's a bit from Wiki which might help:-
