I have suffered from bad skin for 16 years, its not bad enough for Roaccutane but can be bad enough to make me unhappy. I have recently stoped taking Dianette and my skin has started to flare up again, because I am TTC I dont want to take any medication as such so I am taking 6 Evening Primrose tablest a day plus one tablet zinc, using Dermalogica skincare but my best tip is to bathe your face with a solution of a mug of warm water and a couple of drops of tea tree oil (using it neat made my skin dry). HTH

I didn't have what most would called bad acne - I probably had around 3/4 spots on my face but constantly. Its surprising how just a few spots can make you feel - I felt really grubby and as though everyone was just looking at my spots instead of just at me. When you have put up with it for years you just don't realise what effect it has had on you. When I was referred to a dermatologist I just burst into tears in the consulting room - it sounds really silly for so few spots but they had had that much of an effect on me. I was warned about the possible depression but I experienced completely the opposite - I was absolutely elated as day after day my skin became less greasy and clearer.

My advice would be, if your acne is having an negative effect on your life, no matter how many or few spots you think you have, please ask to be referred to a dermatologist - they will advise you as to the best solution to suit your particular needs. My friends and family used to think I was daft complaining about a few spots but when you are still 25+ and still have spots, most people don't understand how it makes you feel.

Good luck to all those who are suffering - there are solutions out there.

i who are all together in a conspiracy to deliberately block people having access to vitamin D
Are you saying or implying that the NHS is willing and able to provide D3 cholecalciferol as a stand alone treatment for vitamin d insufficiency?

If you think that the NHS supplies or allows D3 to be prescribed on it's own at effective amounts then provide the proof.

Why can't you fact up to the truth.

    Why do to tell lies?

I have just bought a few products from Lush so I will also let you know how I get on with them. I was previously using a Clinique bar of soap but I keep hearing stories about how bad Clinique is for your skin so it has gone in the bin. I have gone for the Lush Mud Flats soap which I was told should be good for my acne, so here goes. The amount of money I have spent on my skin is rediculous but if I find something which works it will be well worth it.

I was also on Dianette for a long time (10 years!) and when I came off my skin flared up horribly. The thing is, Dianette works by adjusting your hormones, so I would say if it worked for you, it is probably a hormone imbalance that is causing the problem now.

With this in mind I started taking the herb "Agnus Castus" you can buy it from Holland & Barrett. I think it is meant to help with TTC (which, if you have come off Dianette for the same reasons I have, is always a bonus!) but I have found taking it really improves my skin, it is not as greasy and I only ever get the odd spot around my TOTM (which, to be honest, is quite a relief to get after so many years of being unnaturally PMT-free thanks to Dianette!)

    HTH!

    Hi

I suffer with outbreaks and have found that applying Manuka Honey (available from most health food stores) to the area and leaving it on for as long as possible and then washing it off really helps the situation!

As it is natural and has anti-bacterial properties it is really soothing and within a few days they are disappearing!

    Hope this is of use!

My 12 year old daughter suffered from really back acne on her back at the beginning of the year. The doctor gave her some cream which did absolutely nothing for it. Anyway I found some Kukui Oil I'd bought on holiday in Hawaii that was supposed to be good for skin conditions like eczema and psoraiosis and thought I may as well give it a go. WOW what a difference, a few weeks later and it was almost completely clear! Since then I put it on her back every few days and now all she gets is the odd spot that goes away as soon as it appears. I think you can get it on ebay for about £8 a bottle and it's a 100% natural solution to a problem that was making her life a misery.

Hi.is it only ebay you can buy this stuff from ?

If you type it into a google search box it brings quite a few places up which sell it.

    hi guys

i suffer from acne on my face, chest and back.
dianette really works for me but i came off it 6 months ago after being on it for nearly 10 years. and i am again covered in grease and spots.
my gp however is reluctant to put me back onto dianette and has prescribed yasmin instead, which i am due to start in a couple of weeks time.

has anyone taken this? is it as good as dianette?

as for temporary treatments - on my chest and back i am using clinique anti blemish spray. which is good for getting your back if you have no one to rub in a cream.
on my face i have realised the anti blemish washes are too harsh and make things worse. so i stick to cleansers for sensative skin which helps. at present olay clarifying milk. and i make sure to moisturize, if i dont my skin makes up for it by going mega greasy!!
