Don't think I'll use KwikFit again

I would not send my worst enemy to kwik fit. It's disgusting the way they take advantage of the unknowledgeable and vulnerable when it comes to 'advice' on what needs changed/replaced.
Too much of this goes on:

And I wonder what the real extent of this fraudulent practice was?

I have always had a good service from Kwik Fit but my latest dealings with them leaves me speechless. I left my car at 10:45 am today for a pre- booked and paid MOT at Kwik Fit Horsham only to find that they had no record of the booking and all the manager could get from the call centre was they were having major IT problems. They were having 'major IT problems' last week when I booked it as they took my money twice and gave me two bookings for the same date and time. I emailed to cancel but no one replied so I called the other day and the phone rang for 23 minutes but no one answered. They did not reply to another email and so finally I got hold of some one who said it was all sorted. Today the Call Centre tell me that that there are Supervisors or Managers available on Saturdays (and obviously no IT Staff) to speak so I will just have to wait until it is convenient for them to fit me in on Monday - what a way to treat their customers.0

He said I didn't need to get the back ones done straight away but it was advisable.
The reason the lad on the phone told you this is because the company you've taken your vehicle to have something called a Duty of Care.
If they don't make you aware of the wear on the brakes and you have an accident a couple of months down the line and somebody is killed they need to be able to prove that they have covered themselves which is what they've done.
When you say No S#it Sherlock when told about the front brakes, do you expect the garage to just go ahead and change the parts on your car without getting authority first?
You've agreed to the work after being told what needs doing and the price but then you've made a thread moaning about the cost. You had the choice, you could have said no thanks0 -

hmmm... I suspect the car in question's gone through a few more consumables since 2008.
I also applaud your faith in human nature. Personally, I'm in the 'reason he advised you etc... is that Kwik-Fit are a bunch of thieving, immoral, incompetent toe-rags' camp.0 -
Kwik Fit failed my sisters car on 3 things and a shed load of advisories. Took car off road as couldn't afford to fix it. Roll on a few months later, decides to fix it so before getting the failures fixed, she takes it for an MOT at a local inde garage. This time it only fails on one of previous failures and no advisories.
Never use Kwik Fit for MOT unless your are 100% confident it will pass.0 -

Fixed that for you
Agreed. Just don't use them. I'm actually helping a friend right now with his Astra. They have heat shields on the back box and the holes where the nuts are have rotted away, so the shield is just flapping about.
Kwik Fit have said he needs a new heat shield...
I say two washers and it'll be fine0 -
Well, as someone who routinely hammers Kwik Fit I decided to post about my last experience with their Newcastle Under Lyme branch just for some balance. I must admit, I wasn't looking forward to it but I was struggling to find a garage that'll put your car up on a ramp for free. Kwik Fit will actually do that, so I figured I'd give it a go.
Basically, I developed a wobble a few weeks ago. Initially, I figured I'd knocked a weight off and it just need another balance but when the vibration intensified and movement got more violent, I started to wonder if a suspension component was going. I got the car up in the air at my house and whipped both front wheels off. Suspension was solid as rock, tie rod solid, wishbone/control arm bushes all looked good, the only thing I noticed was some flaking paint on the anti roll bar. No movement whatsoever... so why the hell was it wobbling, had me stumped...
So, I went into Kwik Fit for the third time and explained my situation and asked for a quote. They got it up in the air, and turns out my front passenger tyre had collapsed in the middle causing it to warp grotesquely on the outside. I have to be honest, I did check the tyre for warping before I went, but it was only when you looked at a certain angle that you can see it.
They came out with a quote, albeit a high one, and said the tyre was not in stock. I thanked them and said I need to get it done today I'm afraid. They dropped it, and I was on my way. No charge whatsoever.
I must admit, I can't knock them for that, not when other garages wanted £20 just to get it up in the air. Fair do Kwik Fit.0 -
I'm a bit concerned now, after reading this thread.
I only passed 6 months ago and my little C1 needs to go for an MOT and I stupidly pre-booked at Kwik-Fit for this Saturday. Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016
