Thank you everybody, I really enjoyed making them. I haven't really got any patience... I am the ultimate convience food person and I've even been known to be ready peeled potatoes before now (hangs head in shame)!

I bought some of the decorations from here http://www.cakescookiesandcraftsshop.co.uk/ the woman is really lovely and sent my stuff out the next day cos i was in a panic. However they are not cheap and I found that my local tesco has some really cute edible flowers and the supercook sprinkles, oranges and lemons and silver balls only cost about 40p a tub. Then I just had a look on the sweet asile and bought a bag of value foam sweets which I just popped on top of the icing.

Minimooch. I remembered my gandmother telling me never to slam an over door when baking cos it wouldn't rise so I made sure I slamed the door as hard as I could a few times during baking! (my poor ovens) Also don't fill the bin cases, a small spoonful will do and then you can just fill the case with icing / chocolate etc. Some did rise up and I just piped icing round it - the pink one on the top layer is one that did that.

    Happy baking!

I'm going to see if DD and OH fancy making some of these tomorrow...they all look so scrummy!

The best cup cakes I have ever seen and tasted were in NY in the Magnolia Bakery. They were quite dear but worth every cent!

The magnolia bakery did the cakes that appeared in Sex and The City. I've never tried anything from there, but I'd love to... they all look so delicious

thanks to OP had great fun looking at these cakes - given me lots of inspiration to do some baking this weekend!
For those not into baking and without the ££££'s  - on the home page right at the bottom there is a link for a monthly competition. Name the new cake design and if your idea is chosen you can win 24 mini cupcakes. (only prob is London delivery only or pick up from Kings Road) Good Luck!

    Hi everyone

I'm more of a lurker than a poster but just wanted to say thanks for inspiring me with this thread. I haven't baked anything since school but I got a bit busy with wooden spoon and piping bag last night and made these for a 12 year old's birthday party today.

They aren't perfect and got bashed about when I drove them over to the house but I'm soooo proud, infact I was a little upset when people started to eat them! Oh and even though the "set up costs weren't cheap (I had no muffin pans and the silver muffin cases aren't cheap) they definatly didn't cost £20 for 12 :D
