Thanks so much everybody, for all your excellent advice.

I'm going to try and do a deal with the salesman, to try and bring the cost down of putting air con into the Corsa Club 1.2. Or, we might discuss changing the order for a Corsa Design 1.2, which includes air con as standard, plus some other nice.. er.. things!

I'll keep you posted. Thanks again!

Get air-con and forget all that rubbish about fuel consumption, yes it uses a tiny bit more (when ON) but please its so insignificant you wont notice, you will use 10 times more driving like a boy racer.

Also if its a Brand new car haggle with the dealer about the price, he wont let a sale slip through his fingers for the sake of air-con.

With regards to the £800 for the aircon, are you sure its not climate control?? £800 seems a lot for bog standard aircon. Check with the dealer. If it is climate control, ask them if they have the standard aircon for less money. I actually prefer a/c to climate as its usually much simpler to operate and less likely to go wrong.

    Thanks, balsingh.

It is bog standard air con. I'm converting €1000 to pounds, making £800 (I'm buying from Ireland, where I am living). Pretty expensive, huh!

I added it to mine and it was £500. Wouldn't be without it, especially with kids. It's a god send.
People who say it's never warm enough in the UK must be kidding when it comes to being behind glass in a car. I had on all last week and we are in May.
Everytime the sun is out, I have it on and if it costs me a quid or two, I'll pay it for the comfort.......

All depends if you can afford £800.
I don't think it justifies that amount.
I would look round for a better deal or do without.
Yes its great for those crazy hot summer days when stuck in traffic but they do use fuel. Also need regassing every 2-3 years and are exspensive when go wrong.

£800 for air con seems very expensive.

On their small cars Ford charge an extra £600 for the "Climate" models, for this you get:-

    Air Con
    Electric controlled/heated door mirrors
    Heated windscreen
    Remote central locking
    Variable wipe front wipers
    Auto reverse rear wiper
    Delayed interior lighting

Worth every penny, but as you're buying new haggle with the dealer to get it much cheaper or free. If you look like you're going to walk away over it he'll be happy (well, not happy but you know what I mean) to do a deal.

As others have said, selling it or trading it later will be harder without aircon, and I personally would never buy a car without aircon again.
