The lock has to be ordered so that will be done at the end of the week. I haven't paid yet but he said it will probably be a couple of hundred   .

taurusgb - are you reading anything interesting? I have nothing to read and have re-read everything too recently to start again. Not a great fan of modern fiction so I need to find a new 'old' author who was suitably prolific!

What sort of book/author do you like? I have been reading and collecting books for as long as I can remember (I now have over 3,000 and counting  :o ) so if you give me some idea of your tastes I'll do my best to make some recommendations. I always have more than one book on the go at a time and am currently reading "The Life of Laura Ingalls Wilder" of Little House on the Prairie fame, also "family Roundabout" by Richmal Crompton - the author who wrote about 3 dozen "William" books (all of which I own and adore - have read them to all my children, and they still like to listen now - even the 32 year old! LOL), though this is one of the many books she wrote for adults that were overshadowed by that there William Brown and which has just been republished by Persephone Books. Am also dipping in and out of "A Book Addicts Treasury" and lastly, as I like to have a classic to browse I am re-reading Charlotte Bronte's "Villette" .

    Hi Dusty

Haven't heard from school(s) yet - they have until tomorrow then I am going to start rattling some cages! DD2 is still very fragile - she had 2 more Spanish AS exams today. She came home about 20 minutes ago and said the Spanish tutor had apologised "if she had been upset about anything she might have said" hmmm !! DD now upstairs revising for AS Geography tomorrow afternoon - this is her specialist, favourite subject, so I don't suppose we will see much of her tonight.

Am so overwhelmed by alll I've done today I'm off now for that read I promised myself (with chocolate!)

taurusgb - I worked in a second hand book shop for several years and spent most of it reading. My favourite authors are angela thirkell, georgette heyer, jane austen, josephine tey, ngaio marsh, dorothy sayers, diana wynne jones, miss read and terry pratchett. Out of desperation I have read my way through ruth rendall, patricia wentworth, joanna trollope, penny vincenzi, agatha christie, sharpe books, every classic I own and a lot of childrens books in recent months. Get through a new book probably every two days as I rarely watch tv so it is a problem.

Children safely home and busy annoying each other. Need to crack on with the kitchen but struggling for motivation now.

Well another driving lesson done - 2 left now till T day:eek: .

    Little collect
Waited to speak to DD1 - teacher spoke to them and she is happy. Seems this little girl left her alone after the chat but shouted at another girl instead (ticking time bomb me thinks:rolleyes: )
Popped to handymans for bulbs for girls nightlight
Bought bent screwdriver so will hopefully be able to mend oven handle

Just had a brew so will attack oven door, waiting for Mr T to arrive too.

Michelle - that is horrible about the fire. Glad you had a nice couple of hours out of the house. At least your MIL does something. Mine came round 2 weeks after me having DD2 by C-section and sat and watched me cook a roast while trying to breastfeed at the same time:rolleyes: . Seems funny now but I was not best pleased at the time - should have opened my mouth and said something but I am just not programmed that way:o .

    Right oven here I come
