Sutton, you don't need to be thanked to be loved :)

I can't thank anyone unless I mean it - it's one of my new year resolutions :p

    Hi Brian :hello:

So what's your story? More importantly what nasties do you have?
    Hi Sammy
    My story so far..
3 Defaults from 2004-2005, one registered twice on Equifax which really annoyed me, same dates etc just slightly different amounts, same DCA Cabot financial. All a result of a failed relationship, buried my head in the sand.
Reading this thread prompted me to take charge of my credit rating again, particularly as I'm in a new relationship and a lovely baby boy 17 weeks old so planning for HIS future.
Slowly.. getting there I think.. All advice and info greatly recieved so far and always welcomed

Brian, you should get on to Equifax about the two of the same defaults they will look at it and should remove it. E-mail them and tell them.

If say a company gives you a default and then it gets sold to a DCA do they give you a default as well?

Well done Brian on facing up to your issues. We've all been there and done that so you're in good company

One day we'll all be super prime land :D My last default should fall off March 2013, so I'm still a long way off lol - but it's not the end of the world.

Did you get the duplicate Cabot default removed. I had a DCA try that one on, and I complained, so it got removed :)

Pleased to have you on board. I love the Sub Prime ship, and all that sail in her :)

Likewise Sammy my last one comes off in 2013, I seem to have a duplicate default with RBS for £106 but cant be @rsed getting it removed as it took them long enough to remove the original one also the amount is for some random amount, the other one is for Cap 1. I have had one search this month so no more now for 6 months at least or until the twitchy finger strikes. Also here is a random question if you voluntarily terminate a credit agreement within the T & C does it affect your credit rating.

    Thank You

    Hi Sammy
One thing my past has taught me is to never make the same mistake again.
This thread was the inspiration to try for Vanquis and the Jd Williams stuff, (never heard of Simplybe before reading this.
Now all my accounts are paid withing an hour of me receiving the statements.
Following Suttons advice I'm going to mail Equifax and see how I get this Cabot duplicate removed. Never even had correspondence from them.
My next goal is a 'next' account, turned down first time but maybe now I'm on electoral roll I may have a slight chance. Great for kids clothes :o
Spend a few quid with thenm now via debit card so no problem paying a month later.

Guys, if you have 2 records on your report for the same account - you really should get it removed. Who wants 2 when you could only have 1!! It really does make a difference - and requires little effort on you part.

Brian - ditch the checkmyfile. It's crap. Callcredit is hardly used by any lenders , and checkmyfile doesn't allow you to check your Experian. Your best way to check your reports is through Experian and Equifax directly. Either online (I do once every other month at about £5 each time) or paper requests (£2 a copy).

Once you're registered with Eq and Ex directly, then you can send them a message online and they have a duty of care to investigate and correct any discrepancies. I used them to report an illegal default from a DCA and it was dealt with very quickly.

K - if you voluntary end a credit agreement it would not affect your score. As long as you end it within the t&cs and you don't have any outstanding amount - no bad effect whatsoever.

    Thanks for info Sammy.
Using Credit Expert for Experian at £6.99 per month but didn't realise I could get Equifax online. Like to see everything on screen rather than waiting for post.
Who knows I may pi55 Cabot off after all :D
