Morning K,
I would thank you but it's against my ethics - unless you post a really good reply
I like Freecycle - but haven't been on there in months!! I have a load of stuff in my garage that needs to go in there!!! It is quite confusing to sign up tho as it's all done through Yahoo Groups.
Right, I've had my cup of tea, so I need to shake a leg - loads to do today. Anyone wanna take my dog out - it's freezing out there  I'll have to put on his new faux suede tweed jacket lol. Seriously.
Catch you all later x0 -
Hi everyone. Hope you are all well.
Just a quick question. My credit file has one satisfied CCJ and about 18 searches. My wife’s credit file is clear with no searches and just two accounts with Green zeros.
Can she apply for any credit cards or bank accounts in her name although she only works part time and can she declare my salary as part of her income as I would pay my salary into her account?

Hi Everyone,
Happy New Year to you all!!
Just after a bit of advice on a company called Bains and Ernst..my neighbour has recently consolidated with them and she is wondering if this will affect her credit rating...her and her partner had quite a few creditors that they incurred payment problems with so her credit file isnt good anyhow but will this make it worse?
I have never heard of the company so couldn't advise but I thought someoe on here may have done.
Thanks
Hi Kp - I can't see if you got a reply to this or not, as there are so many posts on this thread. But anyway...
B&E are a debt management company. They don't actually consolidate your debts by giving you a new loan. Instead they take details of your unsecured debts and your income and expenditure and then negotiate lower payments with your creditors on your behalf, based on what you can afford. Each month (or whenever) you pay B&E a set amount and they distribute it to your creditors. B&E take a fee for this.
Because you are not paying your contracted amount under each credit agreement it is very likely that your credit profile will go downhill very fast, but having said that, people who go to firms like B&E tend to be in the doldrums debt-wise anyway.
The advantage of a B&E plan is that it usually stops the phone calls and letters from creditors and DCAs. It means you can make one monthly payment and forget about the individual debts. The disadvantage other than the effect on your credit file is that firstly it costs a fee. secondly it is not usually legally binding and some creditors still sell debts onto the debt purchase companies who are little more than predatory investors feeding off of others misfortune.
If you know of anyone thinking about this option in the future, then Payplan is often a better way to go because it is a no-charge option run by a debt advice charity that is itself funded by the credit industry.
These plans only relate to unsecured debt but if you can free up money to help pay your mortgage then that is an advantage too. I was told years ago by an old Auntie, now sadly gone, after I got my first mortgage that I should always pay for the roof over my head first and then eat bread and cheese for the rest of the month if I had to.
Any kind of debt management plan usually has the one big over-riding advantage that it takes off a lot fo the pressure and stress of debt which can sometimes destroy your life.0 -

Your wife should get a current account of sorts though not with any great facilities as she has little credit history. She may well be financially linked to you at the credit reference agencies and if that is the case your poorer credit record will count against her. I'd suggest you check for any link with Experian and Equifax first. As far as including your income goes, she needs to be careful. If you pay her housekeeping money each month she could put that down as 'other income'. You can be inventive with these things but anything the bank regards as untruthful could result in a CIFAS flag against her name, and then she won't get anything from anyone.0 -
