Well try and enjoy your day, are you taking the bairn?
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

  • Hi everyone
I've been following this thread for quite a while and I think its excellent - just wish MSE had been around a few years ago when I got myself into money troubles.

I just wondered if any of you knowledgeable people on here could help me. I've got 3 settled defaults on my file from 2002, 2003 and 2004 and I managed to get a Vanquis card which I've had for two years know - lots of lovely green zeros and an Aqua card for about 6 months - a few more green zeros! Just wondered what anybody thought about the next card I should apply for with a bit lower interest rate - but one which wasn't too harsh on having settled defaults ?
Any thoughts would be greatfully appreciated.
Lots of love to everyone in the sub prime credit card club

PS. If anyone is ever thinking of getting a managed loan from HSBC - Please, please, please DON'T DO IT. I did and ended up paying many thousands back in interest

i would wait until the defaults drop off in 2010 with the years of vanquis and aqua and with the credit increases if if good order you stand a good chance of a decent credit limit with a tasty apr keep up the good work i hope to join the sub prime club soon with capital one you could always try them whilest the defaults are still on your file!

  • Thanks darcy. Will give cap 1 a try in the next few days. I know its not - but 2010 just seems to be such a long time away. Any ideas which CRA they use? I just want to be back in the proper world of credit and not be put off applying for anything because of that fateful rejection.
    One day soon eh?
    Keep smiling

    Hi,
Since I have been given a vanquis card with a £250 limit I want to manage it in a way that means I pay no interest but also get regular credit limit increases, now I will set up a Direct Debit to take the full amount, so I should not have to pay interest and I will NEVER take cash out of the card. I have heard the best way to get a increase is to use it and pay it, the trouble is I can't do much with a £250 limit !, if I use it for petrol its £300 in 4 weeks, if I use it for shopping its £480 a month.

I had thought of using it and repaying it, so if I used £150 petrol in 2 weeks then make a payment every 2 weeks, if is spend £120 in shopping a week then make a payment every week.

Now can I do that or would that confuse them and also muck up the direct debit as I am not sure when the payment is taken is it 14 days after the statement date etc ?.

I should mention before anyones says the fiqures are quite high that I travel alot with my job (And do get a petrol allowance), and the shopping is for food for six of us, and the money would be in my current account anyway.

    Thanks.
  • It certainly will be worth it.

One thing is for sure - I will make sure I never ever ever ever get into a mess like i did ever again. One of lifes lessons well and truely learnt. S'pose I've got to look on the positive side all in all my debts only came to about 10k which I've managed to pay back over the years. Could have been worse could have been for a lot lot more !

Just got to resist the temptation of the apply button!!

    N xx

Just received an alert from Equifax and three searches that took place a year ago have been deleted from my credit file. Yay! Only about 70 to go! :D
