    Hopefully
I am pleased, after the mess I made previously I decided not to get credit again but after 5 years of budgeting and living without credit I know I will be able to manage it properly this time, it will be handy to have a cc even if it is this one.
Also I want to build up my credit rating, I already have Next and additions accounts not that I use them much only in sales really.

Unfortunately this actually happened to me. I received an acceptance letter with agreement and sent it back. I did not hear anything so rang Capital One who then informed me that was not sucessful and to try in another 6 months.

If you had the acceptance from Capital One in writing then I think you would have a good case to appeal this decision.

They should not change their minds in this way and it is not fair on the customer to give them false hope.

That's what I'm worried about, as I didn't expect to be accepted.
I will post the form today and play the waiting game, fingers crossed.

I was told verbally by Capital One when I telephoned them to enquire about the progress of my application. I have never had a letter confirming that it was subsequently declined. I suppose just unlucky.

Still very poor service from Capital One. Up to you, but I would make a complaint.

well i have to say i totally give up!!

i have spent the last 6 months trying to rebuild my credit file and life after bankruptcy, things were looking up until yeaterday when i checked my files, a company has now added a default on which was included in bankruptcy (7 years ago now) it has taken me 5 months to remove two added last year and i have no fight left in me!! im having a rest for the next 6 years where i can then breath easy as it will have dropped off.

just a query though i dont think its fair to add these so long after bankruptcy, i think they do it just to p**s ppl off and be flamin awkward.

also i think its unfair to check me when my hubby applies for credit, surley just cos we have a mortgage its unjust he should be judged on his own merit not mine, he has perfect file cant even get credit to buy new tv!!

im sure there must be a clause in data protection act to say each persons file shpuld be individual and no decisions made on others files !!

Sorry to hear that, but they can't do that, the account is older than 6 years from date of default therefore they are in breach of the data protection act 1974, it is effectively "material falsehood" you must tell the CRA to remove this straight away, they are breaking the law, what I am telling you is fact so tomorrow get on the "gossip merchants" aka the credit reference agency and ask them, if they do not comply tell them this is material false hood and you will contact a legal advisor with scope to sue both them and the financial institution who recorded the data.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.
