Afternoon everyone, I've been accepted for a bank of scotland classic card which is 27.9 apr. The credit agreement came this morning (didn't get an instant decision) and it was the same as the aqua one. So, I assume the credit scoring is the same as aquas seeing as it is the same company.

i closed my aqua card as they didnt do online banking and annoyed me with there sales when i phoned up....... last week i got accepted for the rbs standard black card, after 3 days got the agrement....... been almost a week now since i sent it back 1st class, still no sign of the card :(

i noticed this card thou doesnt have a restricted maximum limit.... i also have a feeling if you manage it will youll get a better credit rate of intrest.

now i have cap one classic @ £200 0% till nov
    nationwide £2600 only £400 used 17.9%
royal bank of scotland £???? 27.9%[/quote]

Just had a suspicious phone call from Monument, they guy was Asian and they don’t use Asian call centres, he asked if I would answer a few questions so I said ok until he asked me to confirm my card details and name, stupid !!!! so I put the phone down on him, so any Monument customers out there, be careful!

Have you called their customer services department and asked about it? If it's legit, they'll tell you and you can tell them it's stupid. If it isn't they'd probably appreciate knowing that people are using their company name so they can send a mailout:D

    Hi all,

This is for anyone with a Citi card with a ridiculous interest rate... I've had one for a few years now (it started off as an 'Associates' card), and the purchase rate is 29%... I've luckily come into the postion where I was able to clear most of another card which made me think I'd try a balance transfer to it, to clear the Citi card, although the rate wasn't great on the other card either (but better, 15.9% +3% BT fee).

Anyway, I rang Citi to ask if I had any BT deals available if I managed to clear my account (thinking I could always BT it straight back if it was much lower...). The guy in the Indian call centre was polite but said 'Sorry, no'. I then asked if they could lower my APR and again he said 'No. Sorry. Definitely not.'

I then tried ringing them again, this time going for the 'Press xx if you'd like to close your account' option. I explained to the guy I was planning to BT my whole balance off the card and would there be any deals available if I did. I said that if not then I was *thinking* of closing my card (I stressed the 'thinking' bit as I didn't want him to close it there and then!). He asked for a few seconds to look at my account and then went on about how great a customer I had been (!!), how I had 'tried' to keep within the terms and conditions (no late payments but gone overlimit by less than £10 on 2 occasions in 5 years:o ) and that they didn't want to lose me as a customer... he then offered me a BT rate of 3.9% for life of balance, with no fee at all! :j
I was so surprised I didn't say anything which then prompted him to say 'Oh, yes, and I can also offer to reduce your purchase APR to 7.9% for 6 months'..!! Mind you, I won't spend on it with a BT on it but it's nice to have ;)

So, even with the 3% fee of transferring the balance away to another card (plus the few days' interest it will generate there of course), once I BT it back I'll be saving a *lot* in interest. The offer is open until the end of the month.

So, even for those sub-prime cards there is a chance they'll go mad and reduce the APR

    Cheers all
    J
