Went to price-check something this morning and the scanner had been taken off the wall.

I asked CS desk and they said they'd been instructed to remove scanners by Head Office - they're all being taken out apparently.

Something to with people deliberately buying stuff that is mis-priced in order to get their money back and keep the goods apparently!

She said 'it's all over the internet'...

Now who on earth would do something like that????

Pity they don't put as much effort into getting the prices right in the first place!

Thats a shame if they are removing all the scanners, and a bit odd as they just upgraded the two in Dundee kingsway last week to new slim line models.

    Thank you Robin

As a customer service manager for tesco - you are exactly the type of customer we love.
If you have not had a great shopping experience that day and want to speak to a manager, if you are nice, polite and able to amicably discuss your problem, i would say 9 times out of ten you will go away satisfied.

If you come all guns blazing, shouting, demanding "the customer is always right" (which by the way is not company policy), and If you have spoken to my staff with a rude unpleasent attitude, then I can guarantee you will not get your own way with me. A silent staff policy within tesco is if the customer is rude, show them the door. If they speak to you how you would speak to your best friend - give them what they want.
It may seem harsh - but we are all human beings

This is the sort of statement that highlights how little the CSM's at Tesco's either know or care to know of what is going on at the ground roots level. Where not only CS reps try to avoid the legal duties imposed upon a firm by advertising a policy (ASA), but also the legal duty to advertise and sell at the lowest price, under S20 and S21 of the CPA, but a whole host of others, intimidate, try to make you look like a idiot or criminal, or interogate you on your purchases, etc. It is only very rarely that the policy is enforced correctly by your CS staff. Often the absolute worst culprits at agressive and intimidating behaviour are the hgiher level managers, Duty managers, or even store level managers. Without some sort of discussion, which should never occur in the first place, it is rare that an R&R is given, excuses are as follows :

    1. For policy to apply need to leave store.
    2. For policy to apply you need to be aware before you leave store.
    3. Policy ended some time ago.
    4. I'll give you the difference.
    5. The SEL only applies to those with a special sticker on them.
    6. I'll give you one free as a gesture and the others you can have at the price you paid.
    7. That SEL does not have the word OAK in it, what this the new SEL does not have it either (damn).
    8. Pointing to board ........ ooooh that policy is for uuuum ahhahh uumm something else
    9. Now look sonny I don't know which Tesco's you have worked in but a refund and you keep the product, don't talk rubbish.
    10. Refund and keep product ... don't know about that policy ...... (given same lady as happily refunnded a £1.18 block of cheese previous week on policy ... some sort of memory loss I wonder)
    11. UUumm ok that's marked at £6 should have been £5, shall we call it £3.50 then .. point to policy .... slams door goes off in a mood.

The list of excuses is endless and highlights that someone is not doing the job properly, both in terms of getting prices right and then also in making sure policy is performed without the intimidation tactics that seem to be consistently enforced.
Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.

EVERY LITTLE EXCUSE HELPS in trying to get out of the R&R policy when the law has been broken, especially on high value items. :D

Slightly off topic but if you have a self scanner till/s in your store(i wouldn't do this on a staffed till) then use the vouchers that are in the current Somerfield brochure as there is some £1 off coupons in there but also a £5 off gin one.In used 2 of them today along with some £1 ones to get about £17 off a £26 shop on the self scan tills.I could have used more but thought i'd better stop incase they got suss and stopped me even using the ones i had already.I quickly stuck the cash in the slot and paid for the shop i had done:)

I tried doing it the other day during the day but was stopped after about 3 coupons as it was a full time staff member but today as it was more than likely a student they probably couldn't care less;)

Well, if it's good enough for Noah, then two's enough for Saint Tesco - the patron saint of overcharging!

How's that work when you want 3 tins of beans, 3 apples or the frozen ready meals that are 4 for £5?

The bulk buying limit is 6 items at Tesco, though I always get 12 on BOGOFs (even though you're not supposed to) - otherwise the free items aren't really free are they?

I somehow doubt that the bulk buy limit can be down to two items now - if it is they I really hope they enforce it becasue it will hurt their business really badly :rotfl:

Was it a hand written sign or a proper dark blue one?

Does anyone know what the limit is on using coupons to the amount in your shop?
After yesterday's using of coupons i went back today and did some more knowing it would be part time staff again and indeed it was the same bloke manning the self scan tills.I had £24 worth of goods which went down to £18 after BOGOF's and then started putting through some £1 somerfield coupons.I got down to about £9 and thought damn it i'm going to use a £5 one too and then it flashed up on screen that coupons needed to be authorised but nearly straight away it went away as if the geezer had done so.So for a £18 shop i got it for £2:)

So can you use half the value of your shop in coupons before they need to be authorised?
