why say that? if you have no receipt then you will only get the exchange on the price it comes up on on the till, so if you paid £12.99 for the book and the store has a price change and it now scans at £10.99 then you will only get an exchange for £10.99, thats just tough luck on the person, at the end of the day you have no receipt, so tesco are doing you a favour by letting you exchange it.

Well i took that exact book back the other day, it has a stick of £12.9? on which i peeled off :shhh: . When the woman scanned the book it was priced on the till at £14.9? (whole reason for the r+r with this item). That's why i said it because i know how much it scans for  having taken it back myself. I exchanged it for a ps2 game with no problems :D

well done, you were lucky, but if the store drops the price then the person wanting to exchange will get it at the reduced price,

i didnt realise it scanned at the higher price so you were right to tell the person to peel off sticker.

You simply get the product at the lower price!
You need to find the variable weight packs that are more per kg than the SEL.
The price is the last numbers on the barcode (very last is a check digit) that's why variable weight items are definitely going to be an overcharge if the SEL states a higher price per kg. The price for that one item is fixed and cannot be different at the till!

I will add no more to this thread as i feel it is no becoming pointless. Best of luck to Joel in whatever role you play within or outside of Tesco. Have fun with the overcharges and refunds people

    Don't leave me!

But thanks anyway - the job interview is next Wednesday, and as much as I love 'the Tesco way' (lol, bad injoke again..), I think its time to do something different and stuff.

(Yeah, you'd never had guessed I had a good day today, not one negative comment about Tesco! lol)

And thanks for your help spa2k, from one TL to another TL ;)

I think I should head back to the frontline... 1 Tesco man vs 1,000s of overcharge loving customers... aaargh! :p
Yes, I work for Mr T, but anything I say is not given as an official response or representation from Mr T, and is usually best taken with a pinch of salt, lightly toasted and served with a chardonnay or rose wine. Mmmmmmm.

    Hiya,

    i got one :j

    DVD of Cinderella.

currently in the DVD section, there is a chart poster with advertising that Star Wars Episode 3 is 9.85 if you buy any other chart DVD.

if you look above the childrens DVDs there is a chart poster with an identical advert for Cinderella, 9.85 if you buy any other chart DVD.

I got both. I paid two separate times as was buying for presents and want to keep the reciepts separate. the discount was only taken off Star Wars transaction

When I went to CS, they went round the houses looking for an excuse. first of all "only applies to childrens chart DVDs"

well, it did not say that anywhere, all it said was "any chart DVD"

anyway I had bought a childrens chart DVD, and the Star Wars one was from the childrens chart, and that went though against Star Wars which was from the adult chart to give a discount, so that's just an excuse :rotfl:

wasting more time, errr errr erring, then she found letters too small for an ant to read that the small print said offer ends 30th October.

"Oh it's last weeks poster, sorry, the offer ended last week, so you were charged correctly."

me: Could I have a look at the poster please ?

In the top hand corner in letters big enough for anybody to see was the date of the Chart. Week commencing 31st October 2005. i.e this week ! Looks like this weeks poster to me.

Oh so it is. The difference is £5.

Oh, don't you get a full refund and to keep the product ?

    Result ! :j

nannaC, my first ever r&r many years ago was a fine bottle of Glenfiddich malt. How sweet did that taste! Got a great surprise when the CS handed me my money and my bottle. Knew nothing of r&r til then. To link wit something earlier in this thread this r&r was on an outdated offer poster that hadnt been removed

spa2k, that would be a great pity as I for one have enjoyed reading your postings, for a good debate you really need to have two opposing viewpoints, [think house of commons] sorry no delete that I don't want to insult fellow MSEr's. Please keep posting

Not entirely true, Tescos have an advertised policy, (in some branches (not shown in all), but can be confirmed with HQ) that says something on the lines of 'if you have no receipt we will give you an exchange to the value of the current price of the item'.

Therefore they are not doing you a favour they are adhering to an advertised policy. Also it makes business sense to do this, as customers would soon be miffed if they could do nothing about an item if the receipt was lost, especially when there might be loads of other shopping on the receipt thus easy to lose/bin.
Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.

EVERY LITTLE EXCUSE HELPS in trying to get out of the R&R policy when the law has been broken, especially on high value items. :D
