I went to my local tesco today looking for some of the mis-prices.
I asked 3 members of staff where the scanners were to check prices in store.
I I got blank looks and they all said they didn't have them in this store.
Found one near the cd isles.
What's that all about then ??
I wonder if they genuinely didn't know where they were or if they wanted to put me off scanning items.

Do you know nothing of accounting ?? I am being serious when I say overcharge account, there will be a general ledger account in your accounting system that refers to these items, else they will lose visibility.
Normal sale (probable entries)
Credit Revenue £X
Debit Cost of Goods Sold £X / possibly bank
(done probably at summary level)
Refund R&R ???????? It needs an entry to balance the accounts.
Credit CASH/Bank (or similar account) £Z
Debit Overcharge Account (or something like that) £Z
Probably hits another cost object at the same time such as a cost centre respresenting the store, or something like that.Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.
EVERY LITTLE EXCUSE HELPS in trying to get out of the R&R policy when the law has been broken, especially on high value items.0 -
The customer service sales girls here in St helens are sour faced, i hate going to them for refunds. So i now don't even bother to look for differences in per kg as theyseem to look at you as to say how did you see that.
So i now look for cd's books and dvds. But our store does not stock many of these.
i went tonight for a bottle of wine and a mag and 1 of the sour faced ones was on c/sshe just looked at me as i walked past.
I tried to find a dvd or cd, but couldn't as i wanted to take that back to her for a refund, just to see her face.
On another note i got the Italian cook book for free and it is rubbish, can i take it back and just exchange it, even thought i don't have the receipt, but i do have the £12.99 sticker on it?0 -

nannaC, my first ever r&r many years ago was a fine bottle of Glenfiddich malt. How sweet did that taste! Got a great surprise when the CS handed me my money and my bottle. Knew nothing of r&r til then. To link wit something earlier in this thread this r&r was on an outdated offer poster that hadnt been removed

if the store will let you then yes, but you will only be able to exchange it for what the book is scanned at that day,
so you bought the book for £12.99, if you returned it today and they scanned it and was only worth £10.99 (price change in store) then you can have goods to the value of £10.99, (this only applies when you have no receipt)
again what you can exchange it for is up to the store, it may be book for book, cd for cd etc or maybe the store will let you exchange for food goods, its up to the store.
i hope i have helped.0 -

You need to consider the definition of an overcharge from a Tesco point of view. It is when the system charges you more than is indicated on a piece of paper attached to a shelf. The whole accouting system is based on the price stored on the central computers and that is what you are charged when you go through a till. Therefore there can be no "Overcharge" account as how would they know what the price discrepancies are for accounting purposes.
Yes, they track the refunds - very carefully in fact, but refunds are a completely different thing to overcharges....if you mean a refund account, then yes there is one!!
I will add no more to this thread as i feel it is no becoming pointless. Best of luck to Joel in whatever role you play within or outside of Tesco. Have fun with the overcharges and refunds peopleFight Poverty - Hit a tramp!
