Usually it's 10% off a case of wine (12 bottles) and 5% off half a case (6 bottles).

Except for Champagne it's 10% off a half case.

This may not be the current offer, and probably isn't what it advertised in store. Not sure how to verify except by phoning Tesco CS.

in regard the £40 spend giving £20 off a mobile...working or not sometimes depending on your cashier doing it correctly.
my friend just bought a nokia 3320 , cashier scans through the goods total £44.45 then scans through phone.....phone charged at full price, girl then scans through the phone again ...charged at 0.01p ...this flags up as a multi purchase and applies a discount of £20.01 at bottom of reciept...

so findings are..... phone has to be scanned twice in order for discount to be applied....and its considered a multibuy. with a discount of £20.01.

so you could either put through the phone first with a load of other shopping and pack it away. and chances are it got scanned once. or.....
purchase two phones with a £40 spend ...

1st phone charged at full price second charged at 0.01p and you get £20.01 off your bill. so two phones for price of one and twenty pounds discounted..

dont know if it will work tho :-) so be careful out there

    dont put 2 phones through on 1 shop !!! i think t & c says only 1 phone

Just to clarify and for the community to have complete understanding with regards to the mobile phones, the cashier has to manually input the discount by entering a product lookup code. There is no system flag set and this is why there will be many errors on the mobile phones with people not getting discounts when they should.

It doesnt matter how many phones you scan or how much you spend, unless the cashier does their thing, no discount will be applied.

So if we all go and use the self scan checkouts and only put it through once we will get charged full price:D ;)

Tempting....but does it strictly come within the refund policy? (I know some people have already had refunds, but with my luck...!).

Anyone know Tesco's standard "changed your mind" refund policy on mobile phones?
  • After all the discussion re R&R policy, I thought this would be a good place to post as I only know of Ben500 living local to me. Today, I went into Tesco Express, Cardiff Bay at lunch-time. There was a lady there with a clipboard working for a research company (Oxford Research Agency). She invited me to the Wales Millenium Centre, Bute Place, Cardiff on Thursday 10th November at 7-8.30pm to discuss my views on the store I was in and Tescos as a whole. She explained I would be part of a group of 8 customers and members of the Tesco team will be present to listen to the points made and answer questions. If you are in Cardiff you would have to go to the store either tonight or tomorrow to register your interest, alternatively PM me and I can give you a phone number - may be worth a try.

As an incentive to attend I will get a £20 Tescos gift voucher. Hope this helps someone. There is a website to see when they are holding other events but its not working !! http://www.tesco.com/customerservices/custServListenToYou

    :D Hope this helps someone
    Ben500 I have PM'd you.

It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.

The thanks was accidental - I meant to press the quote button.

What on earth are you talking about? If you can't read peoples views about Tesco's pricing policy without resorting to using the very personal lives of your colleagues (which I imagine they wouldnt want posted on the internet!) Then why read this board? :naughty:

I dont see your point regarding your colleague.
Are you saying we shouldnt ever raise any consumer issues as there may be an employee 'just trying to make a living' involved somewhere?

Well said Was going to say similar to Littlemissfrugal.

There are several points of law involved in this area, some have been discussed others have not here is a brief summary :

    1. The CPA says basically that it is an offence for a retailer to advertise a product at a lower price than which he is prepared to sell or actually sells (under SS 20 & Ss21). In my view this would not fall under criminal law however, and would be a civil matter, (as is contract / tort, etc), as it is possible to under-take the action without trading standards / police being involved, and they ain't going to put the local CS in the clink if found guilty, (what a shame ! :rotfl: ).

    2. It is true that a retailer can refuse to sell a product to any customer, the SEL, Poster, etc are invitations to treat within the area of contract law, the contract is completed at the point of sale when you obtain the goods in return for consideration (cash, coupons, credit card, etc). However, if this is the case prosecution under the CPA would be valid whether or not a contract was entered into or not. Obviously this is a little bit more difficult to prove as they instantly (sometimes) remove the evidence.

    3. If a contract is entered into and the 'misprice' is known about then the contract can be declared void, although this would be difficult to prove and also be counter-productive in that the CPA could be applied, and Tescos would be made to look foolish.

    4. If a CS refuses to perform the R&R as specified by the advertised policy then advertising regulations have been breached, and they face prosecution usally via the relevant agency, no matter what the CS's views of the customer are.

    5. Although Tescos can refuse entry to their stores, I feel that being banned because they don't like the way they shop could be considered as a breach of European Courts of Human Rights (ie discrimmination on the basis of colour, sexual orientation, or the way you handle your overpriced articles :rotfl: ), even though this is private property there is evidence that you have been discimminated against as they have not worried about this in the past and you have not commited any criminal action. At best would be a total embarrassment to Tescos if you happened to mention it to 'THE SUN' newspaper, or whoever. Trading Standards would also be interested in this attempt to 'avoid' pricing integrity.
Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.

EVERY LITTLE EXCUSE HELPS in trying to get out of the R&R policy when the law has been broken, especially on high value items. :D
