On a similar note I am looking to buy a Tom Tom bluetooth receiver for my pda (I already have the software so really just need the bluetooth thingy) anyone any ideas where is the cheapest?

I also got a bluetooth receiver about a week ago for my ipaq 4150 pda. I got it on ebay for £75. The one I got is a Polstar PBT-111 (I think I got that number right ::) ).

Anyway works a treat with TomTom3. My last bluetooth GPS receiver was nicked, along with my car! >:(. It was a really good one too (Navman 4100). But this new one is also great.

thanks guys but now I am really confused!

I originally bought my Dell PDA with a bluetooth receiver by Dell which was indeed rubbish as the bluetooth signal kept cutting out - I had heard the Tom Tom one was good however but now I don't know!

    wired vs bluetooth
and Tom Tom vs others? ???
Treat everyday as your last one on earth, and one day you will be right!
  • Any more news on the Pc's Are they any good?

What price range are we looking at?

I bought one of the Aldi PCs last year, the 8080, and it's great - had no problems at all with it and it came with a lot for the money (and lots of useful extras such as built in memory card reader and TV card). Queue early though!

Does anyone know if the GPS PDA they are selling from next week has a CF card slot?

Nope, don't think it would take compact flash, seem to remember it's a 256mb SD card.

If anyone is thinking about one though, definitely get there before opening time on Thursday morning!

As I said on my 1st post, really satisfied with the pc I got last year (I know somebody else who got one at the sametime who feels the same also). I work in IT and quite happy to build pc's etc but felt the Aldi pc was a very good deal for the price.

Regarding the pc's, just been past an Aldi store in the car and it looks like there was an advert on a poster for them, sure it said £399!..bargain if that's true! Will get more details when I can.

Definitely stick with the tom-tom 3 software. I have had it for a few months without problems , including having used it in southern spain.
As i said in earlier post have a look at sat-nav forums to make up your mind regarding wired/bluetooth receivers ;)

  • I think the new Aldi/Medion PC will be the MD 8083.

Could be the 8084XL currently on sale in Aldi in the States:

A PDF version of the specs is available here:

May be best to right click and 'Save as' (approx 650KB).

    Try running this through a translation site, might help although don't know if UK specs will be the same;

    http://germany.aldi.com/product_02/product_461.html

NOW INCLUDED: translated review of German product:

and if the Software is the same for the UK version here's a review:
