thing about JSA is they send you on stupid training courses full of chavs - how long after claiming does this new deal nonsense start?
Then can I suggest you do as my DD did and started working as a domestic to pay her bills until she could secure a job in her chosen field (trainee lawyer.
There is work out there if you are prepared to do it and I speak as the Mum of a child who has epilepsy and suffered a stroke and yet manages to hold down a full time occupation and has never claimed a penny in benefits.:j I have a persecution complex. Everytime I pass a shoe shop they persecute me till I buy them:j0 -

may have to put a claim in
Initially I thought that some of the responses were a bit harsh, as I know from experience how MH problems affect your ability to get a job. However, whether or not you have a MH problem, you are doing a disservice to others who do suffer from depression, social phobia, anxiety etc.
If anyone has any ideas about how an anxious social phobic can earn money from home, let me know! I am very keen to be earning (and no, I DON'T claim benefits, so maybe I should start a new thread on a different board LOL)0 -
Chiolita,
I was not "getting at anyone with MH issues" sorry if I offended you or anyone who genuinly has MH issues ( I have recently suffered a nervous breakdown) I was just pointing out to OP who has been rather rude to some posters on here that if he/she feels that she cannot live on £48.50 a week and doesnt want to go on govt courses then they should try to find other work.
Sorry again I did not mean to offend any genuine posters with MH issues.:j I have a persecution complex. Everytime I pass a shoe shop they persecute me till I buy them:j0 -

Don't worry, Gillian, you said nothing to offend me, I hadn't even seen your post. My comment was directed at the OP.
PS Good luck with your recovery.0 -

Anger is good! One theory about why people become depressed is linked to suppression of emotions, particularly anger. Any expression of emotion can only be a good thing when you're depressed...so long as it isn't harming anyone of course.0 -
oh dear, i came back to see how OP was getting on and have been rather saddened that they have stooped to name calling. Maybe you are a genuine person with MH problems but to start making personal comments to others regarding being single parents or not working themselves etc isnt winning you any friends, and is making it harder for other posters with genuine MH problems get a symphythic hearing. Take a deep breath and use you energy on sorting out your current situation not taking pot shots and others0

Am I naive in thinking that no-one here is small-minded enough to judge all people with MH problems on the behaviour of one person...?0 -

Possibly a little?
The great majority of people are open minded enough to take people as individuals, but sadly there are those that will tar everyone with the same brush xGone ... or have I?0 -
There is an interesting panorama documentary right now on bbc1 about getting sick people back to work...0
