Look around you can get them for half the amount you have stated and less... ;):D Does not take much, a quick type into Google and there you go. Managed to get mine from Amazon around Xmas for £12.00, Game had them nearly half this, but out of stock..

    Worth looking around.

Mines a Madcatz, as I said it's not an "official" nintendo one but was just £6. It does the job perfectly fine.

Official Nintendo stuff tends to stay high priced, Game has it at £8 but no stock, so you can't rely on that price, it will go back up when they get some. Play has them at £17 and in stock,

Yes agreed... ;) Did say Game was out of stock and like you it will be back up to around double, etc when they get it in stock... ;):D

Sorry for nitpicking but HDMI cables use digital signals, it doesn't really matter how much you spend on one the resulting picture will be identical, the expensive cables are just manufacturers getting extra money from you because cables that use analogue signals used to be better if you spent more on them.

A good explanation of HDMI cables

but the wii doesn't support hdmi anyway, but you can buy componant cable to hdmi cables on ebay for the wii that go from the wii to the hdmi socket in your tv, although whether or not they actually enhance the quality is another matter.

Massive split down the middle this one. Ive tried expensive ones and they DO mkake a difference (to MY setup)
Im trying to get a hold of some abx blind tests to at least show there is something in this

Yes, I agree they do make a differance, but to what degree (as you say too and looking for tests) and the offset of the "£" you spend in relation to the quality you expect/get..

However, we digress from the topic. :D(not a dig)

How to Connect a Nintendo Wii To A TV Or An HDTV

    Step1
First, you must figure out If your TV has component video inputs. This is a set of five cables (red, blue and green for video and red and white for audio) and will give you the best picture on an hdtv

    Step2
If your TV does not have the component video cables, you will be using the red white and yellow composite yellows the system came with. A very simple connection.

    Step3
If your TV does have the component video inputs, you will need to buy a set of the Nintendo Wii Component Video cables. These will enable widescreen view and the best picture quality.

Exactly the same as an offical cable, plugs and colours are the same, just the price tag difference
  • As gjchester said price isnt the issue its the cables that are

The evidence is already out there:

Not really. Certinaly there is a lot of hype over expensive cables, but it's not a placebo effect. There is some difference as you move from bargain basement to mid budget cables.

Cheap Cables made of bell wire and soldered in a sweatshop in the far east are unlikely be as good as correctly specced wire soldered in a controled enviroment. It may seem the same on your current equipment but as TV sets get bigger inperfections are more noticable.

Spend £1 in a cable and after retail markup and costs you'd be looking at less than half was spent on components. Spend a tenner and you'll get better construction and components. Spend a hundred and you'll get even better quality, but the question is can you see the difference. Not only is your system up to it but are your eyes and ears? Most peoples hearing is starting to go downhill by the early twenties. This also assumes the bargain basement wire was actually suitable for the job, and no whatever the maker got cheap.

At the end of the day it's about current and resistance, cheap wire will be a lesser quality and have a higher resistance, and either you'll need more current to get the signal to the end device at the same level it went in at, or the signal that arrives needs more cleaning up. The more cleaning up the greater the chance of interference. Cheaper cables are more prone to damage if moved. Will it make a difference on a 2M cable, probably not but the ohnly way to know is to try it on your set.

Remember to compare like for like though , cheap component level calbes will be able to outperform more expensive SCART type connectors due to the fact the signal is not combined in the cable.
