BT Wireless/Vision

  • Hi, my 12 months on BT BB and BT Vision have expired.

Looking around I can save money on 02 or Tiscali, so I'm considering calling BT to cancel and get a MAC.

Before I do so I have a few questions I would like to ask...

Obviously I will no longer be able to view my BT Vision box (not bothered), however I do subsribe to Setanta Sports through BT Vision. Can I move this card into another Freeview box?

Do I simply take out the BT Vision Box? I assume no engineer needs to uninstall the service?

just unplug it, there was talk of them coming up with a way to "unlock" the BtVision box so you could use it a a standalone

got the feeling that setanta card only works on that box

  • If you cancel BT vision then you will lose setanta but you can still use the v box and arrange direct with setanta for the extra packages they offer.

my advice is call BT and speak to BT Vision cot team see what they offer you to keep the whole service.
  • BTW, don't cancel your service before you have the MAC. This will cause problems when the MAC transfer is done.

Best to ask for the MAC, go through the "we can do you a deal" phone calls, transfer your service to another provider and make sure it's working, then if necessary cancel services with original provider.

Are you sure ? I've read elsewhere that the box needs to be connected to an active Vison line when it boots.
  • you will lose the tv guide if you cancel bt broadband but the v box is just a freeview pvr so you can arrange a separate setanta subscription

Forgive me if this is a common request, I did a quick forum search and only found specsavers and MOT threads, different kind of vision!

I am up for renewal on my current BT broadband deal soon, and was wondering if anyone uses BT vision? We have freeview already, and have been happy with the BT service for the last 18months, but dont just want to renew without getting something out of it ;)

Is BT vision any good? Can they offer the Vision Plus (like Sky+) as part of a broadband package? Anyone on the 'inside' know of any deals coming or worth investigation?

    Advice/help greatly appreciated, thanks :D

I have BT Vision and I'm a big fan. The Vision box lets you pause and rewind live TV ( Freeview ) and gives you 80 hrs of recording. You also get access to on-demand content such like films, TV, TV replay, music videos which are either pay per view or part of a subscription if you want to go that way. The films are pay per view.

I dont have a need for Sky, but this gives you a bit more than Freeview and there are no compulsory subscriptions for the Vision service. Dont expect Sky-like content though.
  • I've had BT Vision a long time and have to say its quite a good deal. I never watch enough tv to make sky seem worthwhile but i seem to have a good balance with BT Vision, both in terms of Bank and TV viewing

Also not a huge TV watcher, but would be nice to have the added functionality of recording/pausing etc... What deals did you get when you signed up?
