BT Wireless/Vision

Hi guys,
I am in urgent need of a wireless connection as my wife is currently in the final throws of a Masters Degree and we have 3 children who cause huge amounts of noise. She needs wireless so that she can have periods where she can locate herself upstairs and have a reasonable amount of peace while I look after the cherished ones:mad: .
I currently have the Sky full package and BT Broadband and Phone.
The problem is that I am currently locked into a BB contract with BT until mid July, 2 valuable months away. I was thinking of locking into the SKY BB/Talk/TV at that stage but I am unsure whether to take a seperate BT wireless contract and lock myself in for a further 12/18 months just so I have the wireless now.
My questiosn are:
1. Is BT Wireless any good? Should I take the hit and sign for another 12/18 months?
2. I notice that BT Vision comes as a package but I already have Sky, I do not want to get rid of it but can I use both systems easily or do I have to decide?
3. Can anyone recommend the BT package?
Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers guys.:T

BT vision is just an enhanced freeview box so will work with any aerial in the house, comes with two sockets to extend the Lan connection to anywhere in the house. Can be used to watch setanta but not Sky football , download films , watch BBC on demand and has a catalog of paid for content. the wireless works well here in a large houseEx forum ambassador

You don't need to change to a different ISP to go wireless, or get yourself locked in for another year etc! Just buy yourself a wireless router e.g. on of these here.
Thanks for the info.
Is there any standout routers that I should look out for assuming that I do take up SKY in 2 months and also hopefully future proof myself. I am sure there are lots of good valuable info out there but nothing better than the man on the street that gives advice.
Good makes?
Good Spec?
Anything else will be greatly appreciated.0 -
you will get a free wireless modem with sky , i'd go on ebay and get a cheap bt hub for now , loads on here for under a tenner delivered, some unused

just plug it in and off you go , no need to load the CD that comes with itEx forum ambassador

Hi all,
I signed up to a 12 month contract last may with bt and got a free bt vison box (which is fab!) and digital phone.
i now want to change supplier for broadband and home phone as currently paying £37 a month but will this effect my vision box??Make £10 a day challenge March 2013 £101.24 / £240 :j

Yes - it wont work unless it's on BT Broadband0

And your contract expires in May next year? You'll have to pay to get out the contract if thats true.... you may end up paying more overall.0

ok cool, no harm in switching then, other than you'll lose BT Vision

i did hear something about BT possibly opening it up across other ISPs sometime - but when this will be is anyone's guess. It will be good for them, as it will make them more money.0 -
BT Vision is only available to BT Total Broadband residential customers. If you want to keep it why not ask them for a cheaper broadband deal, and cut the cost of your calls etc. See: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=1598074&postcount=40
