  • Fingers crossed - I've just popped the CD in the post today which is a 5.1megapixel piccy so I'm hoping they can do it A2 but would settle for a3 - hey A4 is fine, it's free isn't it? :D

  • What exactly do you need to do within photoshop to enable an image to meet the Epson criteria for an A2 print?

Yes, I'd like to know that too please!

    (words of one syllable :-[)
    Nice to save.
  • Hmmm - just received an email back from them stating:

    "Corrupted or unsuitable disk"

Funny, as I copied the file from the CD onto another machine before sending it off to make sure that it all worked.. is this a get out ploy?

  • did you wrap it up well in a slip or was it loose?

    Ciao sainthalo,

Noticed that you'd come back in here without answering how you blew up an image whilst maintaining A2 qualification criteria (180 dots per inch) in Photoshop? Please do answer this question as I don't think it's possible...and I love being proved wrong almost as much as I love being right!

Pedantic footnote - You didn't actually say that you were maintaining the dpi only that it could be blown up to A2 size. This would be rejected by Epson unless the original image from a 12 megapixel camera.

I now have my 1200dpi scan which will be in the post tomorrow. Will let this thread now if it is successfull

  • I've just got 2 A2 prints back.

I got them printed on canvas and they look brilliant.
  • my camera is so old :'( its only 1.3 mega pixels and the largest file size it does is 1280 x 960 :'( and i cant find a decent print that I can scan in at a high res.
anyone know of any freebie cameras capable of doing what epson are asking ;D

Ok guys let me clarify what they mean with picture dpi and dimensions..

First of all, you can 't take a photo of your dog with your 3 mega pixel camera and then expect a A2 size print.

All cameras take images at 72 dpi but at different sizes.

The images epson is talking about are ones taken professionally with a professional camera - to produce a HIRES Image of 300 dpi at size meaning at for instance A3.

This image you can then blow up to A2 or A1 MAX The DPI (Dots per Inch) reduces the more the image is stretched.

Everything under 150 DPI is too bad for print as it pixelates - meaning that the image becomes blocky. - bad quality for you and you think epson has bad printers - bad unjustified publicity for them, thats the reason they reject so many images..

So to get a image to work for them you need to measure dimensions in Photoshop.
Open your image and click on

Image - Image Size -there you can see the properties of your image like dimensions and DPI
remember anything under 150 will be rejected AT SIZE
reducing the print size increases the DPI.

The image im posting this week is 78 megabytes and that the right dimension for A2 so they shouldnt reject it

Also if you submit a photo that wont fit on A4 or A3 or A2 then they might reject it too cause there is alot of time and efford involed in resampling images.

You can get a image scanned professionally but scanning it at 1200 dpi on your home scanner will not give great results. You need to have it professionally scanned at a reproduction house or scanned from a transparancy photo,,

Anyyyyyway hope this wasnt to technical!!

but look at it this way you can never expect a 3 meg photo to print at a2 no matter how you look at it!

    :)
