Big Badger House (aka Noisy Lodger) HE'S GONE!

  • HOOS I'd be delighted if he was in the living room with his mates until 4am! I can sleep through any noise - but I'm on alert if I think the neighbours will be disturbed. My room is in the middle of three storeys, but I happen to know that both my immediate neighbours sleep on the top floor and are therefore saved from basement-party-noise, which means I can relax! There's never a good excuse for partying in your bedroom on a weekday

He he I'm awful with any noise - I'm such a light sleeper, I grew up in a tiny village in the middle of nowhere, so light & noise really bother me, I'm used to pitch black and silence!

No there is no excuse for midweek bedroom parties - it's a total lack of respect for other people's living patterns - just because Lodger is happy being awake and noisy at stoopid o'clock, they think everyone else should go along with it.

That's something I'm looking forward to most about living alone - not having to be bothered by other people's waking/sleeping patterns - my room is next to the bathroom, so if someone's up til all hours, I am too!

(I have considered that I am in fact uptight and a little insane, but hey, I don't annoy me!!)

Badger_Lady - you have a great way of puttng things and seriously should consider writing a book - so many of my fav authors use this way of writing and its great to find a real-life on-going version - will get cuppa and malteasers ready for next installment :D
So you're asking B_L to live a crappy shared life with dodgy annoying lodgers forever ... JUST so you occasionally have a little reading material?

    Bit selfish!

    Hey - you're me!
    :)

Noisy/loud/clumsy people who aren't considerate are VERY annoying. What's worse is when they spit at you "Live and let live" ... and you scuttle off scared and only the next day realise "hey, hang on, I wasn't being allowed to live". But you can't shout that over the fence the next day, you missed your chance :)

Ha ha, exactly!! I got a bit upset the other day after I was left with barely any milk after I forgot to hide it (not the biggest of deals, I know, but it's a cumulative effect!), and said to BF how fed up I was with being a nag, and I felt like I was constantly telling people off and being a total b1tch, and he quite rightly pointed out that I was not being a b1tch, the behaviour that I'm dealing with is unreasonable!

So it's not nagging, it's just that they didn't pay attention the first 478 times I asked!!! :rotfl:

I'm just not built for housesharing, there's stuff I don't think it's acceptable to expect a compromise on - I don't care if you don't like buying milk, it aint my problem, if you don't like washing dishes then buy paper plates, and if you don't like having to do a maximum of half an hour's cleaning once a week, don't sign a TA agreeing to do this!! Simples!!!

There are two sorts of "kitty" system:

    Type one:
Life WILL be better when I am a crazy little cat lady living all by my lonesome...bliss!!
(A furry feline hypnotises landlady and the folks next door to provide free board and lodging)

    Type two:
All occupants pay X GBP into a kitty system and the banker provides agreed basic quality staple provisions on "free issue" (eg milk, tea bags, instant coffee perhaps bread and marge). The kitty system can also be used for paying the utility bills and that gives everyone some incentive to economise. .

Thanks Harryhound - yes in theory Type Two Kitty System would be a good move...however this has been tried and failed in our place :( people refuse to pay because they say they dont drink milk/use teabags/steal butter etc (there must be some hungry pixies living under my stairs!) and even when people do agree in theory, I end up arguing with them over putting in, and it became as much of a hassle as hiding the food in the first place!!

Type one is the only way to go, ha ha!

Badger_Lady - that sounds lovely, I hope you have a nice evening :)

Tonight I will be mainly hiding in my room and playing on the Wii!

HOOS - You should start your own thread! that sounds awful!

Oh I just realised, I kinda already do have my own thread, although it's mainly focussed on getting my out of my horrid debts, I've noticed there is a lot of lodger-related whinging on there!

Have you thought about purchasing a separate small fridge for yourself and doing something drastic like put a lock on it? It'd be interesting to see what they'd do then!!!
PROUD TO HAVE DEALT WITH MY DEBTS
  • Ha ha, I have! It's known as the secret ice cave tee hee.

That has saved me a lot of hassle, but I forgot the other day and put the milk back in the normal fridge where it was swiftly used up!

I now also keep my toothbrush, toothpaste, toilet roll (I was the only one who bought any...the mind boggles as to what they do now I'm not providing it...I'd rather just not go there!) and other items in my room rather than the bathroom, but it's kinda depressing as I thought I'd got past living like a student :( better than having it robbed though. And there's nothing more upsetting than putting your toothbrush in your mouth and realising it's already wet _pale_

Oh, and what he does it valiantly do without milk or butter until I slip up, then use as much of it as possible while it's in there! I wouldn't mind, but he has a good job and spends loads of money on luxury items, so it's not like he can't afford some dairy provisions!
