Er, yes - like most landlords I use a deposit to safeguard against damages... I also like some sort of guarantee that foreign blokes I've never met are actually going to move in! Otherwise I'll just rent to someone local.

I did spend the £100 because, as per our agreement, he lost it when he failed to come to Wales... but I'll be nice and reinstate it when he does now arrive. I'm sure I can somehow find £100 from my bank account Every lodger so far as just deducted from their final rent cheque when they leave anyway.

So Lodger3 moved out in my absence yesterday, leaving his final rent payment beind like a good boy (why can't they all be that easy?).

Lodger4 can only afford £200 the first month but would like the bigger room from January - so I will be nice and give it to him now He'll be arriving in 3 weeks, so can get settled before I run away for Yule break.

Lodger1 emailed and asked to meet up Tuesday - he wants to put me in touch with some friends who may be interested in employing me, so I can't say no! If he does try anything, I can now legitimately say I'm in a relationship...

Ahhhhh that's better. After a while of not visiting MSE, I've had a couple of hours today to get through my fave threads!

BL who's the other half then? BF2? I can't remember seeing another one come along... I wonder how many subscribers to this thread have a post-it attached to their monitor with the current attendance of lodgers and their respective numbers!

And I can't remember seeing anywhere that anyone cleaned the bath!

I agree the numbers are getting confusing now - maybe we should rename them:

Lodger1 = PenthouseLodger
Lodger2 = NicesofarLodger
Lodger3 = SickinbathLodger
Lodger4 = MauritiusLodger
