Wow aren't you an example to us all NOT. EVERY individual situation is different i.e. large family, bereavement , divorce , loss of job , closure of business, disability list goes on. so don't give up the day job. People commit suicide because of debt. So not all can afford a holiday

Thanks for that. I'm sorry Discodee but you need to realise that everyones situation is different and things that might work for you would not be practical for me. Ditch my mobile - I don't think so. It is the only means that school and relatives have of contacting me if my kids are sick, hurt themselves etc. I only pay a very inexpensive tariff and it is mainly there just for emergencies. I cannot walk everywhere as my car is a necessity that I have to budget for as my childrens school is 4 miles away, it is not on a direct bus route and walking is not an option due to the practicalities of there area I live in.
I merely posted my thoughts about missing the holiday that was all, I didn't expect to get lectured on how I shouldn't be doing this and shouldn't be doing that. To me a holiday is a luxury, not a necessity, day to day things like keeping a roof over my kids head is more important, that is why I simply remarked that a free holiday would have been nice.

    sorry thats rubbish
99% of people who say they can't afford a holiday are usually doing one or more of these
paying £20 a month for internet access
    Paying for a mobile phone
    Smoking
    Drinking
    Getting taxis
wasting a pound here a pound there on stuff
DH's friend "can't affiord a holiday" yet buys her lunch at woprk each day and buys a cup of coffee here and one there, a bag of crisps here and one there. DH takes sarnies etc in.

Sorry but yes a fe wpeople experience low times in their life, but I fail to see how someone with internet access and a computer cannot afford a break in four years
Sorry if you don't like that but I am a plain speaker and it is a fact!
We have always managed on a low wage since I gave up work to stay at home and bring the kids up yet we can still afford a holiday and days out. I just go without, end of!!
Sorry if anyone is offended, but I am just being honest and did say, wasn't being nasty!

and I wasn't having a go at you actually. I was commenting on several peeps on this thread who supposedly can't afford a break! As I said, £40 could easily be saved
eg, if you feel 4 miles is too far to walk to school, drive 2 and walk 2. You'll save £40 in a few months!! See - easy!!

Anyhow seems I am not allowed an opinion and thought this was an open forum and I havent atacked anyone

    Goodnight and good luck all

yes you need to pay to get there but you need to buy food when you're at home for goodness sake! We take our own food from tesco and cook it there!
As for spends, as another poster said we spend nothing. We just enjoy the pool the sports court and the entertainment. We have walks and fun together as a family. We take our own sweets and snacks, and we don't buy anything there!

i have to agree with you on this one . but im just like you lol . my hubby is on a low wage but for years and we have 5 kids the oldest 18 the youngest 6 and believe me its not been easy ive used coupons saved on bills etc but it makes me mad when my kids have school trips to pay for i go without to pay for them the kids come first but some people at my kids school have people feel sorry for them and pay for the trips for them because they can tell a good tale. i do a paper round to pay for mine they get theirs free because they would rather waste there money on fags and drink . this world is never fair . i went on a pontins holiday last year and am going again this year my kids have been on a holiday every year even if its a day trip to weston.

before i get shouted at this is not aimed at anyone on here just i fact i seem to have found out in life lol
