I Want To Make My Own Money....help!!!

Last year I moved counties with my OH because of his job, I therefore had to give my job up as was too far to travel. My other half does give me money and loves the fact that I am at home but I want to have my own money as he is not a good saver! I have since had a few set backs that have made me a bit agrophobic, however I am starting to go out on my own to the shops etc now. Some days are better than others. I think if I just get out an do something it would make me happy but I don't know what to do. I need something where there isnt lots of people etc......any ideas for a job to fit a fruit loop like me!!!!!????? in Essex.

Good ways to build up to regaining your confidence before starting to look for work are volunteering or starting a leisure class. It will help you get to know some people in the area. It might suit your OH to have you at home all day as they don't have to do housework etc but it does seem to have affected your wellbeing. I always think it is good to have some independance as you never know what life will bring. You may need an income some day.0

thanks kw03cd, it has very much affected me. I have thought about volunteer work and classes but thats just as scary as going out and getting a job. Is there any volunteer work that you would recommend, I wouldnt know where to start, and because I don't know anyone at all in the area I live, I can't ask someone to come with me to a class so I feel comfortable going on my own. Thankyou so much for your words, I do agree with you, I do need to get some confidence back.

Getting out the house would do you good, but its very hard to break the cycle isnt it.You are in no way a "Fruit Loop" btw, youd be suprised how many people will read this and relate to it! I hope you do find something, can you drive? Prehaps delivering and collecting catalogues, or maybe cleaning, that doesnt involve meeting lots of people. I`m not much help i know.
Ps another Essex girl eh, i`m originally from there....well someone has to be;)
Best of luckCaz

aww thankyou Caz!
You are completely right about, being hard to break the cycle. People just say, you just need to get out and do something and you will start to feel better and ofcourse I already know that, its just hard to get out and do it!!
I have just applied to a catalogue company and they said they will get back to me, in the next few weeks. When I told the OH, he nearly fell off his chair and told me it wouldn't be a very bright thing to do and men will drag me into their houses!!!!! Ever the cynic!!!! He is a bit of a worrier, doesn't realise there nice people in the world!!!!! I have only just moved here. Lived in Herts all my life, now proud to be living in Essex, I don't know what all the fuss is about, everyone is nice so far!!! :-)I'm a frugal wannabe

Your OH isn't doing much to help build your confidence, is he?
Start small, maybe get a few hours a week cleaning, and build up as you feel happier. An evening class would also be good - in my experience, the first class is the worst, but remember, everyone is in the same boat!0 -

Photography is good. You look like you have a purpose, so you feel less conscious. And because you have a camera people don't think you must be weird (which is what happens when you are walking along alone).
And when the OH gets back you can show him your pictures and talk about your day.
That'll get you out and seeing what's about.0 -
thankyou chollita and pasturesnew, there both really good ideas....I absolutely love taking photographs, my camera goes wherever I go. I have been thinking of a cleaning job as I live right by a school but don't know if they employ an agency or there own staff etc...I might look into it....thankyou x

Hi Bashful
You don't sound like a fruit loop at all!
In fact from what you've just said in your PM to me, it sounds like you'd be ideally suited to getting out and chatting to people!
At least you can decide yourself when to go, what time, etc, if you didn't want to go out when it was too busy.
Good luck
Sally
