thankyou specsappeal.......that was a really nice thing to say. I can but try and thats all I can do....since talking to the lovely and kind people on mse, I realise that how I feel is very common and I am starting to feel a lot more positive. I hope that I will soon get a job, and be normal again, like I used to be. Thanks again to you and everyone else for your kind words and thankyou for sharing your own anxietys and experiences x

    Hey Bashful

I guess you threw down the gauntlet there for me!

I can't afford Piriton now I am an MSE supporter but I have got some of Boots own allergy tablets. They don't seem to be working as well as Piriton but I've bought them now so may as well use them!

OK! You are on - consider the gauntlet picked up! I will go out into the garden at the weekend and I'll keep you posted as to how I get on.

In the meantime, if I think of any other ways to bring you (us) out of your (our) shell, I'll post here.

    Good luck

    Hiya Bashful.

I relate to your first post. I have been dealing with Agoraphobia for the past 6 months & I'm trying to find things that will give me confidence to leave the house again. I have 2 daughters, 10 months & almost 5 & my fiance had to give up his full time job to help care for us all.

I am trying to look for work I could do at home but I have really bad Social Phobia as well.

Good Luck in finding something & I hope you won't have to suffer with Agoraphobia for much longer.

I'd go down the volunteer route.
I do some work at victim support, not a lot of people in the office, and may do some home visits, but not alone.
Thinking about others problems, will take your mind off your own.

    Hello,

I don't have any good ideas to offer (they're not my strong point!) but I just wanted to say 'hi' to a fellow Essex girl!

Well people are people -regardless of age-and maybe your neighbours are a bit daunted at approaching a young person-for much the same reasons that you are.
Just have a couple of stock phrases on hand-the weather is always a good one -or comment on a nice plant you've seen in THEIR garden, or moan about the dustmen-whatever. Have an "excuse" on hand -"Nice chatting but I have something on the stove I need to go see to" or similar so when you want to remove yourself from the conversation you can without feeling difficult.
Sounds like you have nice friendly neighbours-always better than the "other" type ! :)
