Try speaking to the Bank and negotiate on the Overdraft, Freeze interest would be a good offer.

I hadn't been in credit for years either! I literally had a few pounds credit for a few days and that satisfied the criteria. Since I opened the A&L account my Natwest account has been in credit for all but a few days, it's a wonderful feeling being able to keep an account in the black!

Can I just be a pain and ask which account it is?

I'm currently on this link- http://www.alliance-leicester.co.uk/currentaccounts/index.asp?page=home&ct=primarymenu

    And I can't find it :(

yes pnq - the CC meant credit card. I thought you may be able to get a 0% offer with an existing lender as they don't usually check your credit score. I would have suggested a 0% card such as virgin, but looks like you've already tried that. Any more credit checks in the next few months and these may also damage you score.

It's a Premier Direct current account. I've just checked on the main part of this website and it is still recommended as the best account for people who are permanently overdrawn - see http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/compare-best-bank-accounts

Good luck - I hope you get it!

Virgin refused me :( and Nationwide (Who I have the loan with) also refused increasing my existing loan despite the monthly repayments being lower

I would LOVE too but I can't find child care for those hours and don't have any of my family around me and my mother in law is in ill health and has my father in law looks after her so I don't think they would cope with a 6 month old... My partner also works on call and works shifts so I can't rely on him either as his hours and days are always changing...

Gosh I sound really whingey  I do appreciate your input!!!

Don't take it personally. It is the credit crunch.

They cannot borrow the money on the wholesale market to lend you or anyone else.

Doesn't look like there's much else you can do with these accounts unless that A&L thing comes off.

Have you appraised your SOA recently?
Reclaimed CC charges, bank charges, checked your council tax banding, been missold an endowment?
