I want to switch my contact lenses to daily use lenses. I am with specsavers and they said that it would cost £18 a month for 20 pairs of lenses. I'm not certain what kind of lenses these are, I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell from the cost, and whether or not there is a cheaper place to get my lenses from? I don't mind buying in bulk.

    Thanks for any advice.

    Hi,

Has anyone used daysoft lenses. They seem a good price. But are they any good - also what the difference between 58% or 72% water content? Is one better for your eyes then the other?

    Thanks

Started wearing contact lenses 6 weeks ago (1 Optix Aqua and 1 Optix Toric lense).

At first they were murder, everytime i went indoors i got blurred vision, so used eye drops for a few weeks and slowly but surely things have improved but....

Still getting the occasional blurred vision and sore eyes if i go into somewhere warm like a pub or go to a concert...etc
And by the end of the month the contacts feel really uncomfortable.

Switching tomorrow to Acuvue Advance (with hydraclear) to try for a couple of weeks.

Ive read online that they have a 'higher water content' , is this what i'm needing then?

    Anyone use this brand?

Gave these up after a couple of days, they are too uncomfortable, felt like i'd wrapped my eys in cling film.

Sticking to the original ones i was using, i can live with a wee bit of blurring when at the end of the day i find them realy comfortable

I have been getting Easy Vision daily disposables from Specsavers for years, they were £22 for 30 pairs.
Last month they sent me, instead of my usual ones, the Opsys ones "at no extra cost" (I think they were £25 for 30)- they are supposed to be more comfortable.
I didn't get on with them, felt they were drier than I was used to and so went in to see Specsavers today to see if I could be changed back.
After a bit of " there is no difference, they are a better lens etc" I was told I could go down a grade back to my usual ones. Result - a saving of £2 a month.
They automatically gave me the more expensive option, instead of reducing the cost of my usual ones!!

    It's only a game

It looks like they were only offering you the expensive Elite option.
Here is a list of the prices for the lenses they offer. There are much cheaper options!

Just a quick money saving suggestion to anyone who uses the Hydrogen Peroxide cleaners for their contact lenses.

Postoptics are currently offering 12 months worth of solution for the price of 9 months, £71.85. If you buy this stuff in boots or asda it is usually around £9-£10 for 1 month supply.

The web address is w w w postoptics . co . uk, click on the link for Hydrogen Peroxide Solutions and it is the Oxysept 1 step solution.

I have just stocked up after coming to the end of last years offer purchase !!

I live abroad but will be back in the UK for a week in September. I currently wear glasses but want to get myself sorted out with contact lenses. Does anyone know of any deals for getting my eyes tested for lenses? I can get the lenses made here (Uganda) but will probably want to get a box or two of different types in the UK so I can try them out first (don't know whether I want daily disposables, weekly etc).

    Thanks,

    Rich

All the opticians I can think of would want to test your eyes themselves or for you to have a <6mths old British prescription. You will also need to pay for a contact lens consultation where you get to trial the lenses. I'm not sure how keen they'd be on supplying your first set of lenses (have you ever worn them before?) without aftercare (as I assume you won't be back after the week in September) in fact I don't think it's likely at all.

Ok, I'll have to see what they say. Know any deals going at the moment?
  • I got mine at Asda, they did a fitting of the lenses and a week's free trial then a week later i had a check to make sure they were ok and my eyes were still fine, to buy more.
this cost £17:00 including a weeks lenses. (daily disposables)

but you do have to have an eye test certificate (for glasses) that is less than two years old. or that is an extra £17:00

You need to choose what type of lens you want before you go though as they try to sell you the most expensive type if you aren't sure. (monthly, weekly, daily, ones you can sleep in, ones you keep permanently etc.)

also, there are some really great deals for contact lenses online, so it might be worth taking your prescription and buying a whole load of lenses online before you go home.
Thay can be much cheaper than in shops and its really worthwhile ordering online.
It only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'
