I've been with spec savers on their lens mail (delivered in the post) package for nearly 6 years. It currently costs me £10 per month on direct debit for monthly disposables (wear in the day put in the pot with solution at night) and this includes the lenses, the solution and contact lense checks every 6 months.I have been unable to beat this deal and price anywhere else. The staff are always friendly and helpful and i have had several checks in a short space of time when my perscrition has needed upping with no additional costs. The lenses come in three monthly packs through my door and are always on time and a week before my lenses need changing! We also moved house 6 months ago and had no problems with the address change with regards to delivery.Plus the contact lense trial is free for a month! and the consultation is free too! I can recommend them!

YOU ARE STUCK WITH YOUR DEBT IF YOU CANT BUDGE IT! LOL!

    I've been Money Tipped!
What is your prescription, maybe you need a toric or a high prescription lense. If not i dont think £50 is fair for a fitting.

No i've just had an eye test and new glasses. I want contacts for my holiday in August in Portugal and i refuse to pay £50 just for them to see me and fit them and then pay another £28 for the actual lenses

I'll take my prescription down to specsavers to see what offers they have there.

You prescription for you glasses can be totally different from your lenses which is why you need a lens consultation.

Go to specsavers and ask for one - its free - as long as you then go on to buy your contacts from them. Take your glasses prescription with you as they do insist you have an up to date eye test as well. You wont get your lens prescription untill they have fitted you with a pair that both you and they are happy with - that can take some time of trial and error

  • I've been wearing GP lens for many years and somehow managed to break a piece off the edge of one when cleaning them last night. Rang D&A this morning for a replacement and was told I had to go in for a checkup as 21 months since last one. Cut a long story short came away with a bill of £167! £40 for contact lens fees, £27.50 for private eye test, and £100 for dispensing and supply of lens. On checking my receipt from 21 months ago I see that the previous fees were £30 for contact lens fees, and £60 for dispensing and supply of lens. I am furious do you think I have been ripped off? 25% increase on fees and nearly 70% increase for dispensing and supply of lens. Can't wait for Tuesday so I can get on the 'phone to them. D&A rep off Kings!!

no! prevous price for contacts is at the care scheme price 40% discout and free checks - as you were charged for lens check you have obviously let the care scheme expire. yes your lenses ( gp hdk) cost 100 (60 pound care scheme price) and your check is 40 also if your sight test has expired then you would require a test 27.50 is the cost. the cost to join the care scheme would be 45 pounds!

I'm with them too and can't fault them. You also get designer glasses at the reduced price of £85 as you are in the contact lense scheme.

  • Sillyvixen Help Please! Following your very helpful post re contact lens D&A I looked at my previous receipt and noted that I had joined the scheme in 2006 and was given a 40% discount and free lens check. Have rang D&A today and asked why I hadn't received any reminders about scheme or indeed why it wasn't offered to me on Saturday. Young lady seemed unsure about these schemes and stated that they are ran by their Head Office and are different for each type of lens and she could only see that I would possibly get a reduction (could not say how much) on lens only but would have to pay for lens check regardless as not covered by any scheme. Unable to track down your original post (newbie!) Do you have any further info. to help? Regards
