  • My husband has varifocal contacts and his optician has said that it's not possible to buy these online and can only be bought through an optician. I've looked online and can't find them either, does anyone know if this is true or am I not looking hard enough?
  • Oh no, how horrid for you. I think I'll stop looking for cheaper dailies for my husband and stick with the one's he has. So sorry. Thanks for sharing.

I have just paid out for 3 months worth of contact lenses + solution.

    Cost me about £85.

The contact lenses are daily wear lenses that last for a month. So I have 3 sets of lenses for 3 months.

Why do they put a month use by date on these lenses?

Could I make them last much longer?

I only plan to wear them at weekends so won't be using them everyday.

  • Hello all,
printed off a £10 eye test voucher from Boots.com website and when went to their Opticians store to my surprise I was told it is not valid and they charge £35 for the check-up. Anyone know the best deal to have a contact lens eye check-up? Bought my lenses always online and just need a check-up without the aftercare. Any tip appreciated! :-)

Aren't aftercare and check-up one and the same?

Don't quote me on this but I think it is £12.50 for an eye test in Vision Express. They have vouchers on their own website which you can get emailed to you which you should print off.

But that's for an eye test, not a contact lens check, which is what Emmack needs. She would have the same problem there.

Asda and Tesco both offer contact lens checks, the last time I checked Asda were charging £15. The assessment I had was as thorough and professional as any others I've had.

Anyone using Sauflon Synergi solutions, there is a seller on Ebay doing a good deal - a years supply (4 x 3 month packs) with shipping works out just under £60. Its a proper Optometrists shop and the use by date is August 2014 (some cheap ebay sellers are short or out of date stuff)

My order arrived safe and that's it sorted for a year, best price I ever managed.

Sorry might be daft, but where does it say you get 4x3month packs?
the title just says 3x250ml, which iirc (without digging mine out) is one bottle a month. I would be very wary, I know how easy it is to open the bottles and close without even telling that they've been opened. By opening i mean removing the spout thing. it's how I empty them as per being told by the optician.

Frankly I waste far too much of them, and I think they have a 3 month life. even with 3 months once opened, it's still a waste! I'm bad and tend to wear my contacts for 2-4 weeks at a time. They are monthlies, but I didn't really get an answer from opticians if that was ok to wear for a month or not.

When i said I slept in them it was almost like a collective gasp happened. But as I pointed out, after they tried me on a few other pairs that were awfully uncomfortable, their own leaflets say they were suitable to sleep in for long periods. idk, my eyes are knackered anyway.
