Hi,
I'm after abit of info really...currently wear Air Optix lens with Solocare Aqua (ciba vision) a monthly replacement.
I am on the local optitions 'Eyeplan' eyecare @ about £21 per month (includes lens, fluid & 2 eye checks)
Is this a fair deal or would buying offline be alot cheaper? bearing in mind i would have to pay for eye tests..??
Cheers
Ian
Hi has anyone got any comments on the above ?
Cheers0 -
HI I want to try blue coloured lenses (I have brown eyes)
I currently wear these:
Air Optix Aqua
Ciba Vision
Also sold as Easyvision Monthly Irisian | Boots Premium Monthly
...I don't want to buy a 3 month set or anything, wouldn't mind just a 1 day pair to try on to see how they look first. Anyone know where I could buy maybe just one day disposable pair?0 -
Just trying gas permeable lenses for the first time after years of wearing dailies.
Just wondering which GP is better for comfort & what solutions are people using?
Also, how long did it take for you to fully get used to wearing this type of lens?0 -
Hi there
If your optician tells you to wear your contact(s) for a maximum number of hours per day and max no of days per week...follow that advice!!! I got contacts a few years ago and loved them so much I wore them for lots longer than the recommendation. Stupid me! What happens is that with some types of contacts your eyes have to work a lot harder to get their oxygen supply - taking your lenses out when you're awake gives them a chance to rest and replenish. Leaving your lenses in too long day in and day out can cause damage to your eye - it doesn't hurt but it could mean bye bye to your lenses forever!
I know contacts have advanced a lot and some modern ones can even be worn while you sleep, but do follow your optician's advice. Things can go wrong if you don't and there possibly won't be any pain to tell you. My intention is not to put you off contacts, but just to share with you my mistake and the consequences in the hope that you don't do the same.
I am now a permanent speccy four eyes as I am too scared to put contacts into my eyes now.
you well said0 -

Please take the advice of your contact lens optician or optometrist in this respect as specific lenses work best with specific solutions. If you are not happy with comfort then retunr to your optician for help.
Plus if you are using something different from what is prescribed then you might be leading your contact lens practitioner up the garden path - they may be thinking that you have something wrong that is to do with the lenses / wearing schedule when it could be due to an allergic reaction to a preservative in a solution that they don't know you're using. If you don't take the optician's advice then at least be honest with them so that they can look out for the problems that are known to be associated with that particular type of solution. Like medication all solutions have rare but known side effects and you don't help matters if you switch.0 -

The best modern daily lenses let through 3 times more oxygen than the older ones - there are currently only two of these available in the UK - Acuvue TruEye and Sauflon Clariti (which is also available as private label from the larger multiple groups and smaller chains such as Conlons and Leightons and has the advantage it is available in toric (for astigmatism) and multifocal (for presbyopia)). Coming soon is Dailies Total 1 if your currently wear Dailies lenses and will want to upgrade.
For monthly lenses then the high oxygen lenses can let up to 6 times more oxygen to the eyes. Even if you don't want to sleep in lenses the lenses that are designed for continuous wear offer considerable health benefits for your eyes even if you wear them daily and take them out each night.0 -
I know this is an old thread but i need some advice.
Ive been a D&A contact lens by post customer for as long as i can remember.
Ive had to cancel my dd a few times recently as i was struggling financially.
Ive now been told to reinstate my account, as they are now Boots, i have to switch to 3 monthly despatch time but pay 3 months dds first before i receive any lenses?????
I have no current lenses so im wearing my glasses.
Ive been quoted to pay £78 and have some delivered to store with no solutions in 3days time. Or pay £26 a month for 3 months then to receive them!
I want some lenses now!! I hate my glasses!!
Looked online but you need a prescription to order, i have no prescription details. Ive never kept my invoices that come with my lenses-stupid i know!I have an appointment at specsavers on thurs as they have quoted their lenses at £20 a month but couldnt say if there delivery was monthly or 3 monthly, plus i still have to wait for lenses.
Anyone know any ways round this so i can order lenses online as and when i can afford them?
Thank you!Mum of 2 Under 5s

Try http://www.daysoftcontactlenses.com/. I have been using them for a while now, would definitely recommend them. They cost £12.48 for a months supply including delivery. You will still need your prescription details.0 -

You might find it best to pay for the assessment then order when and where you want. Asda opticians charge £15 for the assessment which includes 12 months follow-up. I'm sure Tesco and many independents will offer similar services.0 -
Specsavers do a pay as go service , you go in pay at the counter for x months of lenses and solutions. You get the lenses straightaway.
they are doing free contact lenses one month trial at the moment with no charge for the contact lens assessment, just 4 pounds for the solution which ran out after 2 weeks for me. If you don't have a valid eye test, they can do a double appointment for both.0
