How to deal with neighbour's kids messing with car?

Im sorry i made assumptions about you I just get really annoyed with the way people are about kids being allowed to do what they want and they aren't bothered if they scratch or dent or even terrify other drivers.
You know what its like then trying to park a 4x4 its like trying to manover a tank! around here there is no where you can park without blocking someones driveway or stopping people getting through so there is no choice but to park slightly on the pavement im only talking the kerb size so not much
If some kid was to scratch my car i would expect the parents to pay for the damage after all they should be careful near other peoples property.

Highway code says...
"Must not" apparently means there is some law, and the law is referenced at the bottom. Not sure if it's an endorsable offence, but I know I can walk down the road and it will be full of cars half on the pavement. I think most people do it in an attempt to please road users while still leaving enough pavement space for pedestrians, wheel chair users etc.
It's not endorsable, I wash having a chat with the OH the other day about it and he confirmed that you are not breaking the law if you park on the pavement. because i thought it was really stupid that you could get away with itLife is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0 -
Hey you two bring it down a peg.
There isn't (funny enough) a law about parking on the pavement, you can, apparently.
Yes it annoyed me when cars parked on pavements, especially when i had to walk in the road to get past with the baby buggy.
MrsE it's not Steph1986's fault that they have to park the way they do, it's the planners who designed the roads that are a problem here, if you saw outside my flat you'd understand.
We had parking bays for permit holders only, and because 'Broadmead' is being revamped they have taken our off road car park and given the space for their skanky shopping centre that no one wants.
I don't know if there are rules for planning permission & cars, but there should have to be parking for one car with a 1 bed & two cars with 2 or more beds in future or NO planning permission.
Perhaps this wouldn't work with city centres, but they need to think about applying it elsewhere.
I know I'm lucky to have no parking issues outside my house & I do appreciate it, trust me. It irks me a little if someone parks across the road from my drive:o But I know I have no rights about that:D
One more thing, there are laws regarding pavement parking. I think you can be towed away;)0 -
we are in the middle of making a bigger driveway but still even then we will only be able to get the two cars on and the smaller van will have to be on the road still, its mad!

We are "lucky" enough to have a drive big enough for 4 (even 5 at a squeeze) cars & still have a little greenery (patches of unmaintained flower beds).
Of course the downside is, it badly needs resurfacing.......
And will cost bundles:rolleyes: Because of its generous portions.
EDITED to say when we do get it "done" all greenery & beds are going, it will be a plain hard surface. I will rely on a few pots & hanging baskets to soften it. The back garden is 115 foot - thats more than enough for us to cope with, without a jungle in the front too :-(0 -
if i were you i would firstly be talking to other neighbours who have cars and ask them if they have the same concerns as you. If they do then you could discuss together any plausible ways in which to handle the situation.
personally when i see kids out playing i go out and say excuse me can you be more careful please - and if i see the kids looking like they are up to no good i go out and say alright what you lot up to - this seems to intimidate and put them off somewhat so they start finding somewhere else to play.
if the mother is doing stupid things like that (int he words of forest gump stupid is as stupid does) report her for criminal damage (ring the police) and the council if its a council house etc. if any other neighbours also try these tactics then it will soon become a chore for them to continue or theyll end up with a mini neighbourhood war!
i to am on the asd spectrum and dont mince words when it comes to addressing kids if their parents dont like it then they are welcome to come talk to me however their kids should not be causing a nuisance of themselves int he first place so they tend not to unless they are really stupid!0 -
I suppose the council are partly to blame for allowing the business to be run from a residential house knowing there'd be two trade vans there.0

But the real reason I reached the bottom of this page was to say it's sad that the OP's thread was hijacked in his hour of need.
