Is it just me that can't stop laughing at someone who washes their car with filtered water?! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Don't wash with filtered water, rinse at the end using the flash car wash which filters water. It removes scale from the water that creates water marks on the car. Other solutions include drying the car with a chamois leather or using one of those rubber blade things. I guess those who find it amusing have mucky cars ;)

Besides car washes and jet washes all use filtered water on a rinse. If it's good enough for them... :)

TBH if you're on the pavement you're asking for trouble.
The pavement is for people, the roads are for cars.

If we parked our cars and vans on the road it would be blocking it and you will only just get a motorbike through its the only way to park here. Kids of that age should be playing in the garden not on the road! We pay our road tax like everyone else probably more as we have 4 vehicles it would be total mayhem if we parked them fully on the road, we leave enough room so a pram or a wheelchair can get past. You cant say fairer than that really.

Am I just out of touch then using water and a sponge them a leather to wipe it down?

Steph: I agree with you completely. Although it's not a problem at my house, we have 5 cars on our driveway. It's very long :D
"I'm not from around here, I have my own customs"
For confirmation: No, I'm not a 40 year old woman, I'm a 26 year old bloke!

You can say a lot fairer than that.

    One more time......

Roads are for cars & pavements are for people.

If there is not enough room to park on the road & still allow access then park on another road.
You can't justify parking on the pavement because the road is narrow, to then complain about damage that may be caused by kids playing on the pavement is just silly.

Its drivers like you (who park on pavements) who make pedestrians & public transport users think all car owners are selfish & ignorant.

Drivers who park on pavements are my pet hate, if a pram or pushchair or wheelchair or child on a bike scratches your car, you have only yourself to blame.

If you have a problem parking & want 4 cars why don't you get a house with a big enough drive to park them on? Then you won't have to park on the pavement.

Oh & that road tax you pay, you're dead right, it is to use & park on the road, NOT THE PAVEMENT!!!!!!

well considering we run a business from home we need 2 vans one van is on our driveway the smaller van is on the road. my car is on a driveway opposite as they lady has died who owned that house and my dads car is on the opposite side of the road on the road.

Why should we park on another road just to please everyone else if we did that we would have to park miles away from where we live because the whole estate is like it.

The kids aren't playing on the pavement thats my problem if you read properly you will see they are playing in the ROAD!!!!!! I have no problem attempting to run the little !!!!!! over it gives me something fun to do.

It sounds to me like your one of them parents that can't be bothered to watch what their kids are doing and let them run riot.

I will use the pavement as i like no one has complained to us about it everyone else on our estate parks on the pavement. Maybe people like you should watch what your little toe rags are up to instead of sat watching eastenders so then they wont be scratching cars with bikes. Kids should be in the GARDEN NOT ON THE ROAD OR PAVEMENTS!

I use to work in a housing office and we use to get people come in saying all they want is a garden for their kids to play in we gave them one and did they use it NO! instead they are in the road on little bikes causing drivers like me to slam on because of the parents stupidity of not watching their kids and are sat inside happily getting rat arsed.

    Nice!

My daughter is 20 & when she was little I didn't let her play out.

No actually you can't use it as you like, its NOT lawful unless there are signs stating you can (& they are very rare).
Kids have a right to be on the pavement, your car doesn't.

I love the assumptions you make about people...........
I didn't assume you lived on an "estate", but you happily share that with us.
I don't sit watching Eastenders while my brood of toe rags play on the street.
Get a house with a four car + drive, then you won't need to park on pavements.

Its a quite nice estate we have a few footballers on here so its not some crumby council estate with kids that have snot coming from their noses.

Yes Sir i didnt realise you was the pavement police!!!

I wasnt allowed to play out of our garden and was brought up properly its just now we have all these parents that dont even watch their kids and expect us to look out for them by not running them over!

Are you saying you would let a 2-9 year old play in the road??? i dont think so. You cant tell me that damaging someone elses property is acceptable either. Sometimes i cant get past cars does that give me right to scratch them or damage them in some other way? so if i couldnt get past your car and damaged it you wouldnt give me a piece of your mind? or if i drove past your house with you being a law abiding citizen and parking fully on the road and i decided to rip your mirror off that you wouldnt be a little bit tempted to park slightly on the pavement??

Look I really don't want to row about this & I'm sorry about the "estate" jib, but you did make a lot of assumptions about me.

No I wouldn't let a 2-9 year old play out.

But drivers who park on pavements annoy the hell out of me.
How can we moan about people not taking care when they step onto the roads if we (drivers) go onto (even a little bit) their pavements.

I don't park on my road we have a 4/5 car drive, so parking is not an issue where I live. But I do street park at work & I only park on the road - others do pavement park, but I won't I will carry on driving (a bit further away from the center) to find a "proper" space, IE on the road, not over someones drive, not on a corner.

When I street park a tuck my mirror in, I have a 4x4 & its a bit wide, so its a worry I agree. If I was legally parked & someone scratched it I would expect them to pay (or their insurance) if I caught/saw them. But if you're illegally parked, do you even have a leg to stand on.

Hey you two bring it down a peg.

There isn't (funny enough) a law about parking on the pavement, you can, apparently.

Yes it annoyed me when cars parked on pavements, especially when i had to walk in the road to get past with the baby buggy.

MrsE it's not Steph1986's fault that they have to park the way they do, it's the planners who designed the roads that are a problem here, if you saw outside my flat you'd understand.

We had parking bays for permit holders only, and because 'Broadmead' is being revamped they have taken our off road car park and given the space for their skanky shopping centre that no one wants.
Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?

    Highway code says...
    244

You MUST NOT park partially or wholly on the pavement in London, and should not do so elsewhere unless signs permit it. Parking on the pavement can obstruct and seriously inconvenience pedestrians, people in wheelchairs or with visual impairments and people with prams or pushchairs.

    [Law GL(GP)A sect 15]
"Must not" apparently means there is some law, and the law is referenced at the bottom. Not sure if it's an endorsable offence, but I know I can walk down the road and it will be full of cars half on the pavement. I think most people do it in an attempt to please road users while still leaving enough pavement space for pedestrians, wheel chair users etc.

I have a feeling that as so many people do it (like speeding) and there is a law against it, perhaps this will be the next thing police spend their time dishing out £60 fines for while people are getting mugged and raped.
