What did your notice say?0

Please be more considerate while entering/leaving the building especially late at night and do not let doors slam and the noise travels very easily!!
Someone has taken it down though either late last night or early this morning.Vegas Trips....Feb 2007, Nov 2007, September 2008, August 2009, September 2011..........:beer:0 -
nice one, but put the notice up again and again and again.
Its typical of modern buildings, built like shoe boxes, with little or no soundproofing,
I bet the communal area has stone or lino, carpet would dampen the noise.....
I live in a hastily built just after the war block of flats, no soundproofing at all, what makes it worse is i have Muslims above me who won't have carpet in there kitchen, hallway or living room, so you can hear everything, especially when i am in bed at night, when for some reason they like to do their diy...
There are marks on my ceiling where i hammer on the ceiling when i hit it with a broomLife is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0 -

Have you actually spoken to your neighbours??
I would think it exceedingly rude if my neighbour below put up a sign telling me to be quiet if they hadn't even mentioned to me that I was a bit noisy!!
Saying that, when I see my neighbour, I always say hello, and frequently ask if I'm too noisy, to just knock and I'll be quiet!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Banging round like a elephant at 12.15 is also rude!!!Vegas Trips....Feb 2007, Nov 2007, September 2008, August 2009, September 2011..........:beer:0 -

You sound a lot like me! Im in exactly the same situation, and have had similar problems. New builds are rubbish for noise etc.
We get people letting the doors slam too, which does annoy me at night as we are ground floor and people come in the back door and walk past our flat so the noise travels. The door in the middle used to sqeak too-but my OH sprayed stuff onto it which stopped that. Just slamming now.
We also have a problem with junk mail and other peoples post being left on the window sills-no body cares. We own our flat, but the others apart from one are all rented out (usually to students) so people come and go and previous tenants post soon builds up.
We (me and hubby) spent over an hour the one day sorting all the junk and post out, as the pile was getting so high it was silly. We threw the junk away and returned the post with return addresses on back. Its getting less now, but still need to chuck junk away on a weekly basis.
Notices dont do anything, so i do things myself as i know its not my job but i hate visiters coming over and seeing post and mess everywhere.
One thing i did get angry over (most things i try and ignore) is one student moved in and decided he couldnt be bothered to walk to the bins and so chucked his rubbish over the railings down onto the canal we look over, and half over the pavement infront of our flat. I admit i opened my window and asked him what the hell he was doing! I think i scared him, never seen anyone look so petrified (wasnt my aim) and havent seen him dumping rubbish since.
A lot of the time talking face to face helps a lot, unless they really are the type that doesnt give a cra p about anyone else.
