Last time they sold out they got in more -just increased the price!
  • A word of caution. I decided to investigate the hum level on the amp supplied with the guitar package, but didnt get that far! I was surprised to find that the single pole mains switch had been wired to switch the neutral ONLY of the mains supply, with the chassis mounted fuse permanently connected to live. I have reported it to my local trading standards. You may wish to have your amplifiers checked out by a competent electrician. Hopefully this was a "one off". I have photos of the wiring errors if anyone knows where I can post them.
  • If you can wait for new stock or don't trust that amp wiring this lot do one for £59 though I imagine the 3w amp is rather poor.

Also look out for a Behringer VTone pack which is about £75 and comes with reasonable 15 watt amp

I've no idea what Gear4Music are like.

That 3 amp one looks ideal for me as I am not looking for loud sounds. Does the guitar itself sound like it is decent?
  • With 3W amps you certainly won't get loud but it will sound horrible. I bought the Encore guitar mentioned on the Argos board which comes with a similar amp. Very nasty. You can't expect much with such cheap guitars but good for beginners, Mind you if you haven't got a decent Strat to compare it to you probably won't notice too much.

This is potentially very serious. Thanks for reporting it.

  • If someone wants a better amp, i bought a brand new marshall one from a local guitar shop for about 60quid a few years back. It has loads of features on it, built in reverb, headphone socket and certainly is very powerfull - i seldom have it on more than about 2 on the scale which goes upto 10!

Just searching the net, its similar to this one which is £49..
