Well my order arrived as promissed just after 2pm today.
1 Electric quitar etc and 1 Violin etc.
Both items are excellent and I am looking forward to happy faces when they get them.
My husband has had 3 electric guitars in the past and his opinion is that he would have expected to pay about £200.00 for it.
I am so pleased and thank you to the origional poster. Its better to be late in this life than early in the next one.

1) Normally, the amp comes with a headphone socket. But the one on mine has a larger hole for the headphone wire than your standard headphonesthat plug into your computer or stereo or whatever. And I don't know whether this amp will have one.thor wrote:I'm tthinking about learning to play electric guitar but know absolutley nothing about them. A couple of quick questions -
1. I'm not bothered about being able to play loud in fact I want to be as quiet as possible to the outside world at least until I am able to play that is so I was wondering do elec guitars have audio outputs for headphones ? This is so that I can listen but not subject anyone else to whatever noise I am producing.
2. What is the best way to learn without signing up for lessons? Are there any good tutorials freely available on the web?
I was quite good at playing the recorder when at school so I have high hopes
But you can always not use the amp and play very very quietly!
2) There are large collections of tabs (guitar music written as you play it rather than in the proper 5 line way) on the internet, and most sites will show you how to read them. You should find a simple tutorial, but I don't know whereMurphy's No More Pies Club #209

Mike.
The clarinet and flute I ordered arrived today. I would say that both of them are well worth the money. If you have experience of a "good" quality instrument then you would probably say the sound is not as good but hey, these are more than adequate for a beginner, which is what I wanted them for. Both came in cases, with screwdrivers, cleaning cloths, a couple of reeds and some grease for the clarinet and a cleaning rod for the flute.
I'm off now to check Ebay for "A Tune A Day" books. :wave:This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

Another thing about the 10W amp for all those who have bought this set. How big is the amp physically? We don't have much room in the house so the smaller the better. Actually if I could use headphones then I would not need the amp at all would I?
Does the amp only magnify the sound being emitted by the otherwise quieter sounding guitar?0 -
Hi guys, thanks for spotting this.
Just wondering, is this guitar suitable for an adult beginner? I know nothing about this kind of thing, but I was interested in their violin as well but noticed thats more for children so now I'm abit cautious about this one too.0 -

These type of amps are usually fairly small. You do need something to amplify the guitar though that doesn't need to be an amp. A cheap effects unit with a headphone out would do such as Zoom 505. An unamplifyed electric guitar emits a quiet sound with no body to it.0 -

I would say that it is fine and does seam to be full size.
My husband's remark was that he would be happy with one (I think that was a hint) and he was playing it for over an hour. He has had 3 in the past so knows a bit about them and said he would have happily paid £200 for the kit.
I guess I might have to order one for him now as he no longer has one.Its better to be late in this life than early in the next one.

The amp is not very big. It is about the size of a box that a pair of boots would come in. Daughter away to a friend's house with amp, otherwise I would measure it.0 -
