I phoned to cancel my Barclaycard as the cashback was 0.5% (and I already had the eggmoney card with 1% cashback). Barclaycard asked what they could do to keep my custom and i told them to improve the cashback offer so I've now got 2% on first £200 each month and 1.5% thereafter (for a 6 month period) plus free card protection for a year.
 wow, that's incredible , I would never have thought of trying to negotiate on something like that, well done :TA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Today, I finally decided to give two fingers to the credit card industry. I will be keeping one card with a positive balance for convenience, cashback, and section 75 cover. All other forms of new credit are history.
I'm reading a book at the moment which suggests that to reduce stess in your life, you should remove as much clutter as possible. Credit card deals, Stoozing, minimum payments, managing credit history - it's all clutter. Yes, there's money to be made/saved, but I guess what I want to express is that there comes a point where it's the right time to chill out and relax.0 -

I was inspired by this as I've had some bad service from Barclaycard in the last week so finally got round to ringing up and complaining. Told them I wanted to cancel the card and they gave me £50 to stayMortgage overpayments since November 08: £32,500 - balance is now £81,200
On a Lifetime tracker +0.38% repayment mortgage
Hope to be Mortgage free by 2015! (or maybe 2014 if the rates stay low.....)0 -
Nice one mrC !
A few years ago I tried to cancel a Goldfish card and they gave me £25 to stay, so I spent it and then cancelled the card a month or so later.

Ok, Today i have made lunch for me and OH to take to work as i refuse to buy those horrible prepacked sandwiches that are extortionately priced.
Later on or possibly tomorrow i will be tackling a small wall papering job in our living room- we were going to get someone in to do it but me and oh have decided to have a go ourselves having experimented with a feature wall in our bedroom and doing a fairly good job:D

only the fringe mind you as I am having it done next week (half price voucher!) but it was getting too long and annoying me....so that saved me 6squid it wouldve cost me in town (fiver for fringe cut and a pound for parking)
I am worried this may have been going a step too far.....but it looks pretty straight!...:rotfl:0 -
