I've lived in my flat for nearly a decade and absolutely nothing in it cost more than £300 and that includes my laptop... Look at your siggy. Be sensible and remember happiness is a roof over your head, people you love, home made bread and BEING DEBT FREE!! Youve done so well so far to do so well so quickly - I'm just worried that that old "must have it" way of spending is creeping back in and your fabulous debt free goal is rapidly on the way out the door....Dont want to spoil your fun but also dont want you regretting getting stuff you really dont need and wont appreciate because you got it all too soon! After all thats how most of us ended up with such ridiculous debts in the first place isnt it
!!
You argue a very good case. :rotfl:
But seriously. I set myself a budget and I'm gonna stick to it. I'm not really materialistic or anything. I could have spent more on what I have but then I know I'd have to make cuts elsewhere. I saw a TV stand for £150. Actually I saw an even better one for £250. But if I bought that then the TV would have to have been smaller or I couldn't have bought something else etc so got one for £70 (Ok people might argue it's still expensive but I saved for it).
Nothing is going on credit cards. The overdraft won't be touched.
I'm having to move out for my own health. My sanity is quickly disappearing living at home and I just want to make the most of it with what I've got. I've saved really hard and am doing loads of MB'ing to pay for everything. Then when I'm in I'll start hammering the loan down as quick as poss. I promise.0 -

Debt now (April 2008) - £8,756.86
Nowt to do with faith in you - its because of my faith in your debt busting abilities that I worry when you are spending so much and £150 is a HUGE amount for a TV stand when a cheapie one would do for now....plus tv....expensive gadgets.....Not saying I'm perfect (spent 27 in grden centre but at least I can eat the produce!!) ...I'll shut up now - I've made my point. If it makes you happy go ahead but dont underestimate the power of the impact of monthly bills which I suspect will be a shocker in realityNerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! The difference though is I'm only spending what I've saved where as pre lightbulb moment, well we all know how that ended up.
I know full well I could of been debt free in September if I'd put all this off. But I'm putting my happiness first. I've spent nearly 3 years living like a hermit with my life on hold. I want to start enjoying life again.
But I'm definately not going back to my old ways.0 -
