george forman grill thing , takes ages to clean.

    stick blender

    doughnut maker

waffle iron, but only cos it only does one at a time and there's 4 of us so takes forever

juicer - ages to take apart and takes up most of the dishwasher

i love my breadmaker, ive got a panny now courtesy of freecycle - better than my other bms.

Deep fat fryer. I hate the smell of chips, which hangs about for ages and the flipping thing takes up so much cupboard space. oh loves it, although we dont have chips very often.

Mine is thge liquidiser which is sitting in the cupboard gathering dust - I much prefer to use my stick blender which is probably my all-time favorite and most used kitchen gadget.:T

the George Foreman is used as a panini maker/sandwich toaster in our house and gets used lots.

Lots of you have binned equipment that could have been given new homes or sold at carboots which suprises me.;)

Electric Steamer.....We took it off MIL's hands when they moved house on the basis that she didn't use it but FIL wouldn't like it if she ditched it. Only taken by us as DH wanted one but I thought it wouldn't get used. After it being in our cupboard for the last 6 months unused I think it might go on ebay this week. FIL probably won't notice and the 'it got lost in the move' excuse could be used by MIL and DH can't argue that it's worth keeping 'cos we've never used it either!!!

I have a small George Forman grill that I use a lot.

I threw a battery operated tinopener into the bin as it ate up batteries and when it stopped mid tin it was a wrestling match to get the contents out.

I also got rid of an electric steamer - much easier the old fashioned way,

I thought the same thing! I try to buy these gadgets cheap at car-boots so that if I don't get on with them I can usually sell them for what I paid, or even a profit. I am almost decided on buying a Remoska with some vouchers I have, and one of the deciding factors is that they seem to hold a lot of their value, so if it's not for me I will be able to recoup a lot of the value.

I like my George Foreman (OH loves it, and if it makes him cook more... ;)) and I have a popcorn kettle that goes on the hob that I think is great.

I no longer use my BM, though I did almost every day for around 18 months, so that's not really a 'not to buy' as a 'to sell'. The only real mistake I think was the combi-microwave, I've only used the grill function half a dozen times and I think it's useless.
  • I have a George Foreman but think it is not worth the bother with the cleaning - Someone on here mentioned using wet bounty to clean it and that did help but it is still really hard to get all the greast out of the joins - makes okay toasties though..

I am so glad I read about the Window Wizzard as I was really tempted to get one as the window cleaner now charges £10 to put a not very clean shammy round the house in about 2 minutes flat:eek:

I have had and given away a juicer, electric steamer, ice cream maker, popcorn maker, easiyo maker, electric frying pan thingie, slow cooker and toaster but I love my stick blender and my Kenwood blend and go thingie.

I REALLY REALLY want one of those new Jamie Oliver electric pressure cookers which are in the new Lakeland catalogue though....

George Foreman - waste of time and dreadfully slow
Juicer - messy, time consuming, pig to clean and weird juice.
Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.
  • I absolutely love my George Foreman grill, I'm a bit puzzled at so many people not liking theirs  If it's just the cleaning I just plug it in again so the plates get hot, unplug & wipe down.

For me it's the bread maker :o We've used it three times & each time was rewarded with a solid square with a huge hole in the bottom :(

Wish you hadn't mentioned the pressure cooker though RS :D

Ditto to all you have said! I couldn't live without a George now! I clean mine while it's still on ~ easy peasy!

My 'not to buys' would be the candyfloss maker I bought my daughter a few years ago for Christmas and got a bar of soap sized puff of candyfloss after using 47 tonnes of sugar.

Won't have a deep fat fryer ever again. They're smelly, unhealthy and are a booger to clean.
