some people just have no concept of the real world
even if you had sent it RD it wouldnt have been any help for them to have a tracking number
it might be worth phoning the buyers local delivery office,it might be there but not been on delivery yet.
anyone watching tv will have seen the lovely british gas are sending everyone free light bulbs
all fine but its millions of boxes which are putting a huge strain on mail centres/delivery offices
eg my own walk has had 4 full sacks of bulbs which have been sent mailsort(cheapest option)so you get 3 days to deliver them
thats over 1 mail sack of bulbs a day plus all other mail/packets
you can see how that slows everything down
right now rm are pushing loads of cuts/new systems etc which are causeing many many 'issues'0 -

My OH is also a postie and he's been moaning for a few weeks now about the light bulbs!!!
I always make a point of asking him if I'm unsure about post issues - failing that I call RM - although in the past, I've found them to be completely useless (certainly during the strikes last year, they didn't know their @$$e from their elbow!) - in fact, I often knew more than they did (again because of OH!)0 -

They probably meant special delivery and that starts at £4.60. Really though you don't need to send everything special as a certificate of posting will cover you against loss in the post up to £36 and if you have that you can refund your buyer and reclaim your own losses from the Royal Mail. For item sover £36 though special is the only way go unless you use tracked couriers from the very few allowed by paypal.
Anyway, here's the link to special:

Hi everyone.
Buyer has logged his dispute with paypal and I have responded reiterating my suggestion that he contact his local sorting office to check the parcel is not there. They won't talk to me as I'm not the recipient.
Received the charming email below this morning after I had sent him the scan of the proof of posting!

I see you have not provided the fax that you said you provide with the details of postage could this be yet more evidence that this was a false auction? you have until the end of the day 13/05/2008 to return my money after the end of today I will be coming to get it back myself and I will use all availible options to do so it has now been 16 days since the first working day after the auction this thursday will be 18 days waiting time. You now have no other option but to return my payment to me in full or I will be reporting this not as I have done to paypal/ebay but will also contact the police if nessercary.

Can I just ask for the time frame please between buyer paying for item and it actually being sent?
Since you are definitely going to lose the paypal chargeback it might be easier to refund them now and get them off your back. If you also want to try and trace the parcel yourself then the RM will talk to you as long as your address is clearly shown on the reverse of the packet.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Auction ended 27\4, item sent using Royal Mail standard parcel service 30\4 (1st opportunity to get to Post Office - buyer was advised on 27th that item would be posted on 30th).
Item was on with £50 reserve and went for £51 with £20 postage (Royal Mail cost was £15.36).
I do appreciate his concerns - ebay is a faceless way of doing business and therefore open to abuse but I've been up front all along the way and I don't appreciate his abuse. I know I've been told not to take it personally but it's hard not to!!!!
Part of me knows that it would be easiest just to refund but he hasn't even bothered to call the sorting office to check if they've tried to deliver.
Jobsworth at the sorting office told me he couldn't give me details about post that was not addressed to me when I called yesterday.
Someone mentioned opening an unpaid item dispute to get my selling fees back - would this include my postage or would I claim that back from RM?0
