We are going to Cuba end of May, does anyone know about the the new restrictions on insurance coming into force on May 1st by the Cuban government? You either have to buy their insurance or have cover from one of the companies on their 'list'. We are insured with flexicover (awaiting a reply from them) to see if they know. Any help would be greatly appreciated, travel agents don't know anything. Help please.

Debras Angel, I have just renewed my annual policy with Columbus even though they had more than doubled the quote from last year, I found they were still the cheapest after trawling around all the other insurers, and I have pre-existing conditions.

If think everyone will see a jump in premiums soon, if they havent already. The biggest claims cost in travel insurance is medical costs..........Most of these claims are paid out in Foreign currency, namely dollars & euros. As the £ has taken such a beating in the last year or so, the bills the insurance co's are getting have jumped by 25%-30%......A cost that will ultimately passed on to the customers unfortunately x

Please can anyone advise me? DH and I are going to the Netherlands and France for 5.5 weeks this summer. We are going by car with our caravan. I need travel/holiday insurance for us but it is not a package deal, we have put it together ourselves. Where is the best place for me to look for insurance? The ones I have seen appear to be for package deals. DH has pre existing but stable angina, no problems since having a stent fitted.

    Thank you x

Owlet - I have never seen an ins policy for package deals only - It is called TRAVEL insurance not Package Holiday insurance - it is irrelevant who/how booked it is coverage for your travel.

I think most insurance co's will cover you. Maybe what your getting mixed up now is that some offer cover for the 'independant' traveller. This is designed for people that dont do packages, but book hotels/travel independantly.... So if say the airline goes bust they can claim for the unused hotel etc. However i dont see how that type of policy would benefit you with your travel plans?

Depends what your looking for in cover - if its Medical cover that is your main concern - any insurance should do. If your looking for breakdown cover or say cover for the cost of recovery for your car/caravan back to you the UK - Might be able to find something specialist through the caravan club or something?
