But I will say that I know someone else that normally calls the Administration charge and thought they would beable to get away with it when it doesnt cost them £12 - The BANKS.

I wonder if we'll beable to get the charge of £12 back from the catalogue ??

not sure if you can claim charges back, perhaps someone else will know, but one thing is for sure, at least hubby knows he is not on his own in this , it is a disgrace for these company's to put their customers in positions like this,
  • So does this mean now that they want the payment at the end of each month?
I'm having difficulty understanding things at the moment so please bear with me!

I've got a reply from Littlewoods about this:
Your statements are printed every 28 days, your payments requested every 21 days to prevent any administration charges on your following statements.

So I'm just a little confused with how Littlewoods is working all this now.

I've just had my Littlewoods statement and despite paying my last payment 10 days before the due date, have had a £10 administration charge added! How on earth can they work that out? The payment was due on 6th May and was made on 25th April. I'm confused too, but as I've now started my DMP I should think I'll get even more confused by them :)

  • This happened to me the other month and i had charges added onto my account. The problem was it messed me up for a couple of months until i had enough money to make two payments in one month. I also rang them and they said they couldnt do anything about it and they seemed to think it was quite odd i couldnt make the payment on time.

Ive sorted it now and theyve raised my credit limit ~ crazy, im deff not using it though!!

  • I recieved a letter today from littlewoods I have had a flexi account with them for many years basically from 28th June if I fall into any arrears they want to double my apr from 19% to nearly 40 %. I am not so bothered about that as I useally have no arrears but what as made me see red is if my credit falls basically below £1000 pounds they want to do the same. Which I find totally unfair. As I'm nearly below the £1000 credit now this is going to affect me very shortly. So basically they are penalising me for being a good customer and payer trying to pay off my balance as quickly as possible. Has anyone else had this letter. What can I do about it. Would doubling the interest rates be seen as a unfair pratice. I knew variable interest rates vary but no one would not expect them to double over night surely this is a unfair consumer contract. One could get better rates of outlawed loan sharks.

Veryone has been getting this letter thats involved with LX Direct, Littlewoods Direct or Additions far as I know. I'm owning around £500 at the moment and I've always tried to pay off my account as quickly as I can too, but with them putting the APR up to nearly 40%, I can't understand how they can do it and get away with it.

heres a puzzle for you. Lx/littlewoods/additions were putting the interest rates up on account with less then 1k outstanding on 28/06/08 according to the letter they sent me. I had £121.14 outstanding with £7 min payment due 5th July. I called them on thursday to pay it all off with my debit card and close the account.

The guy informed me that until the payment actually clears (maestro) that they cannot physically shut the account so I will need to call back to do that or put it in writting which I guess is fair enough.

I checked my online bank today, discovered they had taken the 121.14 outstanding on Friday the 27th so I gave them a call tonight to finally close it down because surely the payment will be showing now especially considering I gave the card details to their operator.... Ummm nope.. According the the very helpful 'laura' debit card payments take up to 14 working days to reach them

I had a DD set up for the minimum and used to just pay extras over the telephone as and when we had the money and next pay attention to the dates as long as we had no charges. Now i am wondering if the payments are dated on my statements 14 working days after them have been paid.

I guess we will find out because i have cancelled my DD to them due the 5th so i will awaite my next statement.

another thought from me. If they want payment every 21 days but it takes 14 working days to process a debit card payment are they therefore going to fine anyone who basically doesn't pay the minimum by DD??

My my calculations and presuming what 'laura' says is true if i received my statement today they would want payment by tuesday 22nd July. If i paid by debit card today the payment would reach them on 18th july which is fine. If i paid them via debit card tomorrow it would arrive 21st July which would just make it. that is all very fine and well but If i had no money until pay day on Friday 4th July then my payment wouldn't arrive until 24th July which is after my payment date so an Admin charge of £12 would be applied to my account.

AFter tea i'm away to hunt out last months statement and bank statement to check.
