The one here also does "freedom loans" which are smaller, have a higher APR but do not require advanced savings.

it might be possible to get one to cover one or two payments to Littlewoods and use that to spread the pain. A lot cheaper than the the £12 late fee.

The other option is that you might be able to do a car boot sale, stick stuff on amazomn or e-bay to pull together the late May payment?

the trouble is they now want to payments earlier every month so no matter what, the payment next month and every other month will incur late payment fees because they have changed how many days you have to pay, our money is due the end of every month, this wasnt a problem before as he had about 5 days to pay, this month it is now 3 days so it wont get there on time, next month we get paid a day before payment is due and the month afrer we get paid on the day the payment is due to them, if they hadnt have changed it as they have payments would have been made on time as usual.

Why not contact BBC Watchdog and see if anything can be done by highlighting this dubious practice? People who have always paid on time should not be penalised because of a change to terms and conditions.

I'm sure that the terms and conditions that you originally sign will state somewhere that they can change the terms and conditions and their discretion... Not sure what Watchdog could do/say about that to be honest.

It would be a goodwill gesture if Littlewoods were to waive the late payment fees for the first statement after the change to give people a chance to adjust their budget accordingly.

maybe something to note. we also have an account with them with about £200 outstanding. Noticed with the most recent statement tha apr is now 35.9%. We have not received a letter about it either. i found a bill from sept 06 and apr was 28.9% then

my catalogue is interest free for 20 weeks (a year if the item is over £60) i only pay interest if i choose to pay the item over a longer period of time, which i don't, the only reason i ever use littlewoods is beacuse its interest free

I am not sure if this will help you but I have been paying on the day that payment is due on their website by electron card and have not had a late payment charge, been doing it about 6 months now, more or less instant processing even on bank holiday monday

I've just recenty got my statement through and found that I've been charged a late payment fee (Administration Charge) of £12.00 and interest £3.95. Now I will admit that I was late with my payment, which I can understand. But after reading that they've now changed it to 21 days is just crazy. As I've struggled with the monthly payments, now I've no idea what I need to pay, so I guess I'll have to contact LX to find out how much I need to pay this month.

But I will say that I know someone else that normally calls the Administration charge and thought they would beable to get away with it when it doesnt cost them £12 - The BANKS.

I wonder if we'll beable to get the charge of £12 back from the catalogue ??
  • We got a statement yesterday from Additions for my fella's account. We paid £10 on 3rd May and now they want minimum £5 by 31st May. Have they changed payment dates now?

Also just received a letter from them advising his interest rate is going up from 28.9% APR to 39.7%....!!!!!!?!
;)I am not a complete idiot - some parts are missing;)

yes the payment dates have changed already, we cannot pay this account now as we will always incur charges of one thing or another through no fault of our own, my hubby wrote a letter of complaint and has sent a cca request in, since then his credit limit has gone to £0.00, dont know why, and to be honest dont care, he has never missed a payment in all these years or payed less than he should, makes you so mad they treat good paying customers like this    and as for your interest rate going up there is a post somewhere about this but i cannot find it
