And imagine if every customer brought in a cheque to pay into their account every day, or came in to request a standing order is set up, or to take out £1K from their savings account .......
It just isn't going to happen (not even the last one).0 -

I had Northern Rock in mind - and of course it wasn't every customer .....0 -
But that's the whole point, it's just not inconvenient, it's downright appalling.
So I live a good distance away from my branch, so I've counted up several bags of change in coppers. I only go to my branch very rarely (about once a year); and these bags of change I've collected in a year.
So what exactly am I meant to do with them? Shops don't like bags of coppers etc.
Sorry I find the answer unacceptable. They should have the room to store them.
Realistically how many personal customers are really going to deposit bags of change on the same day? Then, impose a limit; but not on a basis of "just in case"!
Another shoddy example of "non service Britain" - I bet you wouldn't find that rule in any other country?
why are you angry at the banks if the shops don't like them...shouldn't you be angry at the shops? and why "they should have the room to storem them".
how about: "one shouldn't bring them to the bank/shop but spend on a regular basis"
i think sometimes we are too demanding.....0 -
Some news on this again...
My other half went to the bank again with the change and it was banked no problem at all and a quick word at customer services afterwards clarified that they have no limit on how many bags you can deposit per day or per week.

Local shops will usually take some off your hands, that is where most of ours goes.
Halifax have a 5 bag limit when paying into account (I have got away with 7/8 before) Barclays haven't at our local branch. One day I might be more organised...........
